Wondering how much it would cost to take a trip and go on a hunt for every machine available at every park every resort?

My calculations put it at $321.59, for 459 pennies at $.51 each, and 70 quarters at $1.25 each.

I looked at that also. It will take some time to get them all. I put an added cost on mine. I bought rolls of uncirculated 1971 quarters and pennies to use. Not outrageously expensive to get them. I just liked the idea of having them all on the coins the year WDW opened.

You can find lists online of where each coin machine is and what pics are available for each coin. Might make your hunt a little easier!

Anything you can do to make your coins more interesting always helps. I like to use pre-1959 wheat cents, but I also have a few of these:

Before you try something like this, make sure you know the intrinsic value of the coins you are using. Some have substantial value.

It might be a fun souvenir hunt to do with the kids on our next trip. We are looking at being there for two full weeks. They will be 5 and 2 1/2

My kids really enjoy this activity, but be warned, they tend to fight over who gets to do each machine, so you might want to set some grounds rules before you start!

i get the pressed pennies and quarters everytime i see them. then when i ge home, i put them in my scrapbook on a mathcing page. so when i have a cinderella coin, it goes with a picture of cinderella. plus i kow where all my coins are and it hink it adds a little more to my scrapbook. just an idea.

That's really not too bad if you spread it out over trips. Press-penny hunting was such a fun thing to do at the park.

Providing you've got the coins to spend sounds like a great idea. When I've been we've got the odd one or two, and they really do work well as a small souvenir that reminds you of the place without taking up too much space.

Wow! That's amazing. I didn't know there were so many. I'll have to pick and choose next year, so as not to get carried away. We have quite the collection of Pressed pennies from sites around New England that we've visited over the years. I always get excited when I see a pressed penny machine, and I'm always really bummed when I come across a broken one. The one at the Old Orchard Beach Pier had really great designs, but it didn't work!

    Anyway...

Oh, yeah, a follow up question...are the names of the resorts on the pennies found at the resorts, i.e. do the pennies at Port Orleans Riverside have the name of that resort on it? Just curious. I think the pennies would have more intrigue if they did, but that's just me...

Most of the coins at the resorts do not have the name of the resort on them. After a quick search I found there are coins for the Contemporary, Beach Club, Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge.
