how intense is expedition everest?

I don't like roller coasters especially begin jerked around but I love this one. It is intense but it is also smooth which makes it so much better. I would suggest it unless you get motion sick or headaches like mentioned above. I won't ride any of them at Six Flags- way too intense! It is really a fun coaster.

Everest is very intense in comparison to other Disney rides.

Compared to the big coasters at a place like Cedar Point . . . .just medium.

I'd rate it as slightly below the intensity of Hulk and dueling dragons at IOA.

But it has great themeing that outshines all those others.

But, I have a history of back problems. I think Everest (and Rock N Roller Coaster) is so much smoother than space mountain. I enjoy the smoother coasters much more.

I guess it all depends on your perspective.

But as others have said compared to a Six Flags or Cedar Point...not very intense...but very smooth and no butterfly feelings in your belly.

I found it to be a rather "mild" roller coaster. It was more "themeing" than being as coastery as it could have been. A little bit of a "switchback" (backwards slide then forward again on a different track). NO loops.

It's very much worth the ride. It's cute...you race through the mountian looking for the elusive Yeti. It's an "expedition". You'll regret NOT trying it.

I would agree with this assement. Fear should not be the thing that keeps you from this coaster. It's a good ride.

My nephew has always been nervous about going on thrill rides, mostly from fear. I asked him to look at the people coming off the ride.... most of them were younger kids. I told him you need to ask yourself that if they are coming off the coaster fine, why wouldn't you?? He's later told me that that was the one peice of advice that helped him overcome his fear. Now, it's a different story if you are physically affected by such rides. Some people's bodies just can't take the effects. In these cases, it can be hard to overcome. Good luck!

If you belong to the latter group, you probably won't enjoy EE, as it is medium intense. I belong to the second group myself. I realized a few years ago that there's a big difference between ENJOYING a ride, or just scraping up the courage to get through one. I don't enjoy coasters (though I have been on many), so I no longer "do" them, and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.

I totally agree with this ranking. I'm not a coaster person AT ALL, and felt horrible after the last time I rode RNRC. However, I've never had any problems with EE. In fact, I've riden it multiple times in a row with absolutely no issues. It's one of my all time favorite rides.

This is a great point. I'm also in the latter group--I don't like roller coasters. The only reason I go on them is to be with my sister or because I just want to try something new. I've been on EE, and you can definitely tough it out. Will you enjoy it? Probably not, if you're not a coaster person. But you won't necessarily hate it, either. Bottom line is that if it's something you want to do for your wife, I think it is doable.

I love roller-coasters... but can't ride jerky ones due to a neck surgery... Everest is not jerky and as roller coasters go, it is on the milder side... although it is the most extreme one at Disney IMO... the only thing I didn't really care for.. even though I do love it... is the going backwards... it makes me feel a bit motion sick.

I enjoy the smoother coasters much more.

Smooth and FAST does it for me, and Everest is both. I think the most intense part of the whole experience is the backward death spiral, as I call it, followed by that exhilarating plunge out of the mountain. Woo hoo!

The first one-third of the ride is very much like Big Thunder Mountain. The next portion is backwards and in the dark, but it's not terribly fast...yet you will feel the G-forces and it's very thrilling! The final third is like Big Thunder Mountain again, but a bit faster.

That's good info, I really like the way you described and compared the two rides!! I've done Big Thunder Mountain but not EE. Our last two trips to Disney, I've suprised myself and my family by trying rides that I normally wouldn't. It's been great and I can't wait to go back and try more! I really like this post!
