Default Anyone had the curry @ Rose & Crown?

    Hi all!

We are dining for the first time at the Rose & Crown Dining Room at Epcot on our upcoming trip. I have seen may raves about the steak, fish, shepherd's pie, and "bangers and mash", but I haven't seen any comments from anyone who has had the curry from there. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do prefer vegetables over meat and this dish sounds pretty good, but has anyone actually had it? Sometimes restaurants do an absolutely terrible job with their veggie options and I'd rather eat a bit of meat than be served a flavorless meal...any input will be welcomed greatly!

Looks like no one has had the curry? I was hoping you would get some responses. Sorry. But I do enjoy the Rose & Crown.

Reckon not! That in itself almost makes me wary of trying it.

I haven't tried it either. Actually, I don't even remember noticing it on the menu. Perhaps people want to stick to the traditional options. I know England has a large Indian population and curry is popular over there, but it's not what I think of when I think of English food.

As a vegetarian, I have ordered the curry at R&C! I really, really enjoy Indian food, and frequent a local restaurant. I have to say the R&C curry was not as rich and flavorful as what I am used to eating. (I like a strong, spicy curry flavor). The dish was mild, but still good. If you like curry, you'll most likely enjoy this dish. If I had to rate it on a 5 star scale, I would give it 2.75. Hope that helps!

On a side note, I have heard rumor that the curry is no longer on the menu, though it was still there in May the last time I went down. Hope it's still there if you're wanting to give it a try!

Indeed, the curry is no longer on the menu (lunch, dinner or pub). They're now offering vegetarians a vegetarian shepherd's pie (creamy mushroom-vegetable ragout topped with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese served with mixed greens and roasted portobello mushrooms).

They used to serve a veg curry at Crystal Palace but I didn't see it in August. Wonder why it's no longer served.

I probably doomed the dish by wanting to try it. Same thing happens when I find something I LOVE at the grocery store--it's days are numbered because it WILL be discontinued.

Thanks for the info on the curry and the new veggie offering, you guys! I guess I'm going to stick with my second choice item, the original shepherd's pie.

6 days and counting it down!!
