Wow, Beth, I just figured out what your screen name means.

My husband was definitely game for our first couple trips to WDW, but he's since turned into a fanatic like me.

Spouses
My wife is NOT a Disney fanatic but she enjoys the trips e make to WDW.
Actually, I think we' drive each other crazy if we both tried to b thre family trip organizers.
I think sometimes is fan(atic)s can understand why the 'normal' people the object of the fanaticism the 'correct' way. "They just don't get it." The truth is, there are happy, well adjusted people who will go their whole lives without spending a dime in Central Florida.
I'm glad to be married to a non-fanatic - whose happy to know all of the ADRs for her upcoming trip to WDW have long since been made - and she didn't have to make them.

I have been married for 34 years and my husband has been to Disney with me once! He did not enjoy the parks the first time we visited (1981), and has not been since. He is very happy to send me, the kids, the grandkids on our way as long as he can stay home. Not ideal, but it works for us.

i so fit in with this group!
i LOVE disney..my hubby..could care less about it..he goes cuz he knows how much i love it..
we were suppose to go once together..and that was in 2006..but we have been every year since then!! lol..
i think he is s-l-o-w-l-y coming around..maybe in another 20 years..he'll be there..lol..
he says he probably like it more when we can take our kids there..
im due in dec with our first child..i hope he will be aching to get back in about to years to take our little girl..
i really wish he loved it though..cuz sometimes while we are there..he just brings me down..i sensor my feelings..so he doesnt think im weird..and i end up not having that great of a time..just wish he could understand what disney is to me..not that he has to be the same way about it..but just gets it and can let me be happy...

My kids (19 and 17) love Disney and can't wait to get back. My husband, although he enjoyed himself on the first couple of trips (when they were little), is starting to make his desire to visit someplace else very obvious during vacation planning talks. He always comes around and has fun when we get there, though. We did break things up a bit...we went on a cruise one year and a trip to Atlantis, another, and Italy...so it's not like we've never been anywhere else.
Nice work, pal.

Well, my wife went for the first time this past June. Before we left (through the planning stages, etc) she was ok with the idea of going, but she really thought I was a bit around the bend on the Disney stuff. Well, when we got there she was blown away by things that I never really thought much about (the landscaping, the paint schemes on the buildings, etc) I guess since I've been going since I was a kid (and I'm still a big kid!)I was focused just on the attractions. Now we are planning on going back for Christmas 2010. We are even considering going to DisneyLand next summer to taste the "original." (This would be in addition to a trip to San Fransisco, so it might be a bit much) Anyway, the point is, even though she may not be quite as over the top as I am, she loves the place now too. We are looking forward to many more trips!

I have a recommendation for you and others that are into the small details of the parks...Look in to getting the Imagineering Field Guide books they have one for every park including Disneyland. The books provide a bunch of info in a "pocket size" book.

Yes, I am one of those! My husband is not the fanatic that I am. Yes we got married there, but that was his first time there.
Although, he has been more much open and agreeable to our upcoming trip than he has been in the past. He almost seems like, dare I say, he's looking forward to it. That being said, I know if if it weren't for me, he'd probably never go again.

I just returned from my honeymoon at WDW. DW's first trip. She luckily loved the place but still insists we take other vacations as well. I dont get it but we've agreed to at least go every other year. Though next year is still Disney ( for the kids) lol. Maybe you and your wife could comprimise?

I was born and raised 2hrs from Disney. While I thoroughly enjoyed it growing up, I didn't fall in love with it until I took my oldest son on his first trip at 6mos.
By then I was already married to this non-Disney lover I like to call honey.
I now have 1 child that doesn't care for Disney either so occasionally the rest of us will go to Disney without them.
We still do family vacations (at Disney and beyond), but I can't give up Disney entirely.
Suffice it to say, 2/3 of my family get it and the other 1/3 doesn't.

Thank goodness! This sounds like an opportunity for one spouse to plan ADRS and FastPass strategies and the other to plan things like The Grand Canyon... Alaska... London... Rome... Moscow... Shanghai
