Default Festival of the Lion King or Finding Nemo? (Only time for one)

I was wondering for those of you that have seen both shows at Animal Kingdom, if you only had time to do one show, which would you prefer? I'm leaning towards the Festival of the Lion King (our boys will be 10 & 19). Any thoughts on this? We went last year but didn't have time for either show, but want to make sure we see at least one of them. Thanks for any input!!!

This would be a no-brainer for our family. Festival of the Lion King has become a classic and a must-do for us whenever we can get to AK.

For the ages of your boys and for yourself, The Festival of the Lion King for sure. Nemo is cute and creatively done, but not as impressive as Lion King.

Must be something wrong with me....I hadn't seen either show and saw both on my last trip. We saw Nemo first, and then Lion King. Maybe because we saw Nemo first, or maybe we were expecting too much, but we were really disappointed with the Lion King. Everyone we talked to really built it up for us, and maybe nothing could have lived up to our expectations. I plan on seeing it again, just to give it another shot & to be fair. But we thought Nemo was 1000 times better, and we aren't even fans of the movie. Just my two cents.

I definitely say Lion King. I did like Nemo a lot, but I LOVE The Festival of the Lion King. You'll have a great time either way.

Very tough choice because I LOVE both, but I think there's more in FoLK to hold the 10yr old's attention.

They are two different types of shows.

Nemo is more of a stage musical, audience (and I mean a lot of audience facing the stage.) - our first time we were in the nose bleed section - seriously, I think it was the 2nd to the last row, and felt quite detached from the show. It is an excellent show. Great effects, costuming. I enjoy it waaay more than Beauty and the Beast...but I am not a big princess fan...

FOTLK has a much different venue - theatre in the round and is much more interactive, incorporating the audience and it feels more intimate. Really like the interaction and you are right there with the performance.

If there is any way, see them both, however, that being said I have never seen them both on one trip.

Good Luck! I really think you will be happy either way...at least if you don't get to see them both, you have reason to start planning the next trip...

I would try to get them both in because I think they are the 2 best shows on property but if I had to make a choice between them, it would probably be Lion King.

These are hands down the best two shows on property (and even beyond WDW!). FotLK has always been one of our favorite shows. It's like a very high-end, well-done variety show. Nemo is, as someone said, a stage musical (with puppets -- very cool ones). Since Nemo came out, that has become our new favorite show. It is just absolutely terrific. If it were me, I'd vote for Nemo. But, because you said you have two boys, 19 and 10, unless they really like stage musicals, FotLK might be better suited for them. For your circumstances, I'd go with FotLK.

They are both fine shows, and either one should entertain you. I would give a slight edge to Finding Nemo- the special effects were creatively executed and very well done. And the theatre is, in its air-conditioned glory, a bit more comfortable than the Lion King's.
