Taxis...

Does anyone have the name & number of a taxi service or two that they like to use in WDW? We might end up needing or choosing to take one once or twice between resorts or to get to a ressie on time as we aren't renting a car...

Your hotel will help to secure the taxi. Just ask & let them know a head of time when you need it and they will arrange it at the desk.

You could look on the sponsors site and take down the number for Quicksilver. They're a limo service that we found often costs less or only slightly more than the cab services in and around WDW and much nicer to deal with. But, we often just depended on the resort staff to get us a cab when we needed one. They work with a number of cars onsite and have a system, so it's really quicker and easier than calling your own (* assuming, since I've never called my own other than setting up in advance with Quicksilver.)

I googled Disney Taxi service for you and the number for Checker/Yellow Cab came up -- 407-699-9999. They are part of Mears and the official taxi service of Disney.

We usually ask the valet/bell service staff to call for us - most of the time there's a cab waiting nearby for pickups.

There are usually cabs available on site. We've only used cab service 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years. Maximum wait for a cab was usually less than 5 minutes.

The taxi number has changed. It is now 407-422-2222. Same cabs, just changed the number but if you let someone at the front of the hotel know you need a taxi they will get one for you, they are always on property. You might not see them but they are there.
