    Default Souvenirs at WDW

As most of you probably know from experience, you cannot go to WDW without buying a bunch of souvenirs. There's so much stuff (especially pins if you like collecting those!) that you can't pass it up! I always make a list of stuff I want and the price of it and guesstimate how much I'm going to spend. Of course, there's always random stuff I come across that I buy. Does anyone else make a list of souvenirs you know you want when you go to WDW? How much do you usually spend on souvenirs? I usually spend about $350, which $100 of that are most likely pins.

I always go wayyyyy overboard on trading pins. (usually at least $200 a trip) I don't usually make a list of what I am going to buy, but usually do make a list of who I will need to buy for. I love to shop in Disney!

We go way-overboard, and spend easily over $500. I think we spend $100 on personalized ornaments each year.

I always spend toooo much money, but I think it is worth it (that's probably the problem )

I usually know of certain things I am looking for that I don't want to forget getting, So I keep a list of that. But that sure doesn't stop me from going off of the list and buy other stuff!

The idea of having less than $500 to spend, makes me very nervous. What if I see something that I Have to have?!?!? LOL
I think last year was the most I spent around $500-600 can't remember exactly.

Now before anyone throws things at me, I am not spending money that needs to go for more important things,
I save up my money all year in a special "Souvenir" account and that is the only money I spend on souvenirs. So it's not as "wasteful" as it sounds. And whatever money is in that souvenir account by the time I go to Disney, I gladly enjoy spending every penny because I have done without the rest of the year to get money saved for Disney

I like the idea of a souvenir account! I think we'll try that next trip.

It's funny, my DH and I were talking about our last trip and saying we really hadn't bought that much in souvenirs. We were wondering where all that money went. But as we were talking about it, we started remembering more and the list was kind of surprising. Not too surprising since I knew we spent more than I thought we would though!

I had boxes delivered for one week straight full of personalized ornaments! They were such great gifts plus the tree turned into a Disney Tree (even though the delivery man gives me the evil eye!)

    This is a GREAT idea!
I did this for the first time last year - I purposely cut up a debit card and had an automatic deposit set up I called the bank and had a new card issued about 3 weeks before I left to use and how happy was I that I had souvenir money!

Well, my last trip was just a short one - so I set a "budget" of 50.00 - I think I read about it somewhere else - to see what I could find.
It's going to be a different story in 2 weeks....its my honeymoon
My fiancee and I eyed a bunch of things on the last trip and made quite an extensive shopping list!

I definitely have a list of things I want to get in september! I've been writing stuff down ever since we booked.

And my daughter has ben working on her list, too, and faithfully saving her money--she has $101 saved so far, which I think is pretty awesome for someone who's not quite 7!

My husband recently sold a bunch of stuff on eBay, so we have that $$ sitting in the savings account that we've linked to Paypal. We haven't touched it; it's "ear"-marked for Disney.

We've been enough times that we've pretty well gotten all the standard mementos. But, there's always something else, isn't there? DH likes to collect the ceramic statues, so a different one each trip for him! DH usually gets t-shirts or jewelry, or little things for her friends, and me...I GOT to get my scrapbook on. So, I get my dated album, the kits, and am constantly looking for items to use...receipts, menus, items on tables, pins, resort "things",maps, guides, mugs, paper scraps off the ground (LOL) and lots and lots of pics! Also, I get any new books that have come out.I have a curio @ home w/30 yrs of WDW vaca memories, and a scrapbook for each year!

For the past 3 years we have done the following-
I work a part time job as a party casino dealer for my best friend, its more of a fun job but it helps and the tips are good- i use that and take 1/2 od whatever i make or get as tips and put it towards trip expenses.

Both myself and my wife get 200$ each and
our twins get money based on grades.
( they both made honor roll so it cost me alot this year)
But each of them got roughly 120$ to spend-
That was it, We were not supposed to assist in any way-
( i did buy them some trader pins but i used my own money to get them those)
This year we had a pretty tight budget, but we did very well, And the kids have learned to spend wisely the past 3 years. They always get some Legos , but then the other things are random.
Basically from the money my wife and i get, we dont buy too much for ourselves, we end up buying stuff for the girls, but we always get an ornament and a few other items like a dated photo album and stauff like that. Everyonce in a while we find something bigger and we get it.

The worst time i had was the last star wars weekeene where i spent WAY too much on SW stuff-

I always have my list made before we leave home. And even though this will be our 4th trip, the list still seems to get longer every time! This thread has inspired me to check the growing list and see what I "have" to add!!!
