    Default DIANA–The People’s Princess Exhibit

Take with a grain of salt please, but, on another Disney site there is a rumor as to what may be coming to the old Virgin Megastore... Ready??? Sit down for this one:

AN EXHIBIT OF PRINCESS DIANA'S GOWNS!!!!

Again, take with a grain of salt as this is not confirmed in the least bit...
Son of Jor-El.. Kneel before Zod...

TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...

BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

Actually I don't really see this being too far fetched since the space is large and empty. The People exhibiting the Gowns would pay Disney for using the space. Disney would benefit from increased traffic at DTD restaurants and shops from people who want to see the exhibit and yet might not be Disney fans or want to visit the parks. The exhibit would bring in revenue while Disney figures out what to do with the space.

Sounds like Disney may be scraping the bottom of the barrel of monkeys for ideas.

I'll add my name to the "I'll pass on this one" list...

    1) Hey, they did a traveling exhibit for King Tut.
    2) Maybe a dress exhibit would work.

NOTE: We saw Diana gowns in Kensington Palace, and it wasn't a biggie.

Key word is IF... May not be... And if it is, it will only be a filler until something else goes in there.. Then again, where have we heard that before??? (Pooh's Playful Spot anyone??)

Apparently this has been confirmed as true and no longer a rumor... On the UCF job board, a job listing was posted for this exhibit... Supposed to run from the end of June through November, so it is temporary... I know many people loved Princess Diana, and she was a fabulous person, but, no offense, I will be passing...

Yeah doesn't seem to exciting to me, but I see the logic behind it. Doubtful they would have anything locked down as a permanent filler for this spot over the next few months, so it gives them something to fill this rather marketable space with, while hammering out the details for a permanent new resident for the spot.

When I tell DH he can see Princess Di's dresses instead of CD's etc I somehow don't think he's going to be thrilled.

Pretty sure that I'm not going to be able to get my guys to watch that display but oh well.

A few years ago, 2005 or 2006, I was in Houston, and there was a traveling exhibit of Princess Diana's Wedding Dress, some of her other Gowns and some of her personal items (letters, toys from her childhood, letters from Prince Charles, etc.) and it was a beautiful exhibit and would recommend it to anyone. I was just a little girl when she got married, and it was neat to get to see the dress up close and personal. I remember taking bed sheets and wrapping them around me and making a long train, pretending I was her. The exhibit may not be for everyone, but it is still amazing.

Princess Diana was a wonderful person and the loss of her was a tragedy.
I have to disagree and I for one would LOVE to see her gowns. I could go on, but I will leave it at that.

I agree! Mom was a huge fan and if this becomes official we will be planning a weekend trip to WDW just to see this (of course being there we will be going to a park or two as well )

I'm a guy...and i have so much respect for Princess Diana. She was an incredible person. I remember her wedding, and yes, i was very saddened by her death..
having said that...I have no desire to see clothes that she wore....no matter how wonderful she was....
something tells me that Diana would have much rathered her clothes being sold to the highest bidder and that money going to her charities, as opposed to it being a tourist attraction at Disneyworld.

Princess Di was very respected and loved... However, I have no interest in seeing her gowns... I'll be skipping this in October.. However, it is temporary, and any fee collected for entering does get donated to a charity by the organizer... I hear another Landry's owned restaurant may take up residence at the empty buolding formerly known as Virgin Megastore..
