Red face Waitlisted at Boardwalk Approved !! Should I take it ?

    Hello All !!
I reserved a week long stay at Kidani in October, but decided to waitlist Boardwalk Villas in case something opened up .... well I just got a letter saying that I'm now staying at BW, not Kidani. 2 quick questions-
    1. Should I keep things the way they are ( BW seems hard to get into ).
    2. Do I even have a choice now that my waitlisting has been approved ?
Thanks to all who respond !!!

I believe you are correct as far as it being difficult to get into Boardwalk when it is not your home resort. If you really wanted to stay there I would take it. Especially if AKV is your home resort. You can stay there any time. We own at OKW and AKV and had a reservation at Kidani in Oct as well, but changed it when the window opened for BLT. This was going to be our first time at AKV, but figured this was our best chance to stay at BLT at least for a while and we can just stay at AKV another time.

I have stayed in both a 1bdr and studio rooms at Boardwalk. We had walked around Boardwalk prior and were not too impressed. When we stayed there we went on a last minute trip and bounced around and stayed at whatever was open. However, after staying there we really liked it and are making plans to add Boardwalk to our home resorts. We did have a good view when we stayed so maybe that helped, but whatever the case was we really enjoyed it there as did the kids (2 boys 7 & 3 1/2).

As far as whether or not you even have a choice I believe that once a waitlist comes through the reservation is automatically booked and any points needed to make up any differences are also automatically taken. Since you are within the window to cancel without any consequence you may be able to do so if you decide not to take Boardwalk, but your AKV reservation I believe has been cancelled. I'm sure someone else can comment with more accuracy. I have been on waitlists before and was automatically given the new reservation and the old ones were cancelled, but I didn't make any changes from that point.

Whatever you decide I'm sure you will will be happy. Hopefully someone else will comment and clear things up.

I believe what SFD998 said was correct. Just as an aside, BWVs are even more difficult to get in Oct. because of the F&WF and proximity to Epcot so if you are planning on attending it I would not give up the BW reservation. Good luck with whatever you decide and have a great time!

    1) Glad you got into BWV.
    2) And, no you don't have a choice.
    3) You are booked as soon as the waitlist comes through. *
    4) Let's face it, AKV and BLT will be hard to get for a while.

    * This was a change three years ago.
    . . . there were a lot of waitlists
. . . when one comes through, they had to contact the member
. . . sometimes they took a long time to contact
. . . if refused, they needed to go to the next person
. . . this could go on for many people in line
. . . so, now if you waitlist, it is automatic if available
. . . it is a good system for everyone
