Cover your kid's eyes
Our local news had this on their web-site;
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Disney says it will no longer scan its Splash Mountain and three other rides for guests who feel the need to flash.
Disney confirmed Tuesday that it has reassigned employees at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure who watched for breast-baring riders because "actual inappropriate behaviors by guests are rare."
Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown issued the statement after the blog <snip> reported on the changes, which took effect Sunday. The change includes Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and California Screamin'. Riders are photographed on the attractions and can then buy souvenir copies. Some guests have exposed their breasts in hopes that the picture would make it onto a photo preview screen at the ride's exit.
The company began the screening about 10 years ago.
If word gets out we might need to skip the photo preview or be ready to explain.

sorry about the web link. I didn't think it would do that. Is there a way to edit it out?

Is this also in effect at Disney World?

I don't think it's that big a deal. I doubt it will be all that prevalent, and catching a peek won't scar anyone for life, I don't think. A kid might not even notice unless parents start freaking out about it. Concerned parents might want to steer clear of the photos or send a scout ahead to check status before bringing the kids over. Maybe I'm too relaxed, but I wouldn't even worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about it either. Children would probably not notice that. They are scanning for the picture of themselves. They aren't that easy to see, anyway. I find I really need to get up close to even read expressions...........then again I'm getting old

Prediction - as I put my Kreskin hat on...
This policy is doomed and won't last much longer than it takes for 5-10 complaints to hit guest relations.
If you are running a family park, you don't want topless pics appearing in the public realm.
Plus, since it's been announced, folks will be testing the policy left and right.
You have to wonder if anyone actualy thinks these sort of things thru before making a decision - if it indeed checks out.

I'm surprised there's not some sort of technology solution they could implement. Photo software can pick already pick out faces.

If they're supposed to think these things through, then what are they supposed to use their magic 8-ball for?

Not for anything, but announcing it was pretty stupid.
-
Come on, maybe announcing the move was a wise decision based on keeping you guys out there interested. Maybe now a bunch of menfolk will flock to the attractions hoping to see some action?

Personally, I think they should randomly post security at the ride exit, and anyone who does the deed is immediately escorted from the park. Or, they could also charge them with public indecency. That might stop a few, or at the least make them think twice about it.
It's really sad to me that they even had to have a person scanning the photos in the first place. Call me nostalgic, but there was a time when people wouldn't even consider doing something like this.
Everybody else is thinking it, I'm just saying it. - Mr Gibbs

Announcing it was really a stupid move. I guarantee you on the first Saturday after this policy becomes widely known you have at least a dozen girls/women violating the policy.
It's a stupid rationale ... "Not many people do it so we'll no longer look for it."
Duh!!

Why is it that the 'puritanical' US has such a problem with partial frontal nudity? Most other countries in the world could care less, but we have to make it into such a taboo that people will take any opportunity to 'shock' the people around them by exposing themselves in public.
Personally, I think we, as a society, should grow up.

Agreed.
By doing this, they can both reduce costs and increase revenue... "I'll take a 5x7 and a photo keychain of my family, and a 20x24 poster of the girls in the log behind us!"

One famous quote comes to mind...
I'm going to Disneyland!
Sorry, couldn't resist... Really now, they have one minimum wage person sitting in a room to watch the pics go by. They staff this person during park hours, and if they want, keep them under what, 35 hours so they don't have to pay benefits, and they can't afford to keep doing this?
Seems like nickle and diming to me...

I was thinking of the same thing, even though their behavior is really a pathetic plea for attention. Arrest them and put it on the news. It won't be so funny when their parents have to bail them out of jail. That will be some attention that they weren't expecting.

Am I warped for thinking this is a little bit funny? I know it's a family theme park, but I honestly could care less....unless, on my one and only trip to WDW, my Splash Mountain photo was highbeamed by some betty and her girls. Otherwise, it makes me chuckle.

I shudder to think what the boys/men might try to get away with now that the "censor" is no longer on the job......
