How does the dance party at MVMCP stack up to the Hollywood Studios evening EMH dance party in the Playhouse Disney building?

Similar format. At the party near Ariel's Grotto this year were the step-sisters and Lady Tremaine from Cinderella. I think the mice friends came out some, too. At Cosmic Rays we had some sweet elves. I think Chip and Dale had been there earlier, but we hit it at the end of the party, so it was my DD and the 2 elves.
If your child likes the Playhouse Disney party then they will like these, too. There is so much to do at the MVMCP though. I wouldn't make the dance party a priority. More of a stop by for a few minutes as you are passing by.

I agree with TInksMom.....we just did a fly by with out little one, but she was probably too young to really enjoy it much anyway.

The Tremaine Catillion, as it's called, is truly awesome, yet packed with little kids; which is shocking since it's technically a Villain's dance party.
