Default Staying at POP, which room area should I request?

We are staying at POP 12/17-12/23 in a preferred room. What room #'s should I request? I know it will be rather cool, but DD will probably want to jump in the pool from time to time. And...which is better, 1st floor or higher up? Will there really be that much noise next to the pools during that time of year?

We stayed at Pop last October and were put on the 3rd floor of the 50's building. We were facing the pool and at most there were 10-15 kids in it when we were in the room. It was noisy, however, with all the kids screaming etc - even just 10 of them.

We've always preferred the top floor so that we cannot hear others running around above us. Although we didn't hear that with the 50's room (it has 4 floors). Also, we asked for a completely different building and area and were put here with no guarantee that what we wanted would open up. So I don't know if you asked for a particular room number if that would be honored or not. Anyone know?

We too stayed in the 50s building at POP, but in April so the pools were a bit more crowded. And believe me it was LOUD LOUD LOUD! I would say, if you can, request a room NOT near the pool. Good luck!

The first time we stayed there we were put in the 90s building because we didn't know any better. It was definitely quiet - probably because we were so far away from everything. The second time we asked for preferred and were in the 60's building third floor (I don't remember the number) facing the Hippy Dippy Pool. It was loud, but we really didn't mind - being still in college we thought it was fun to fall asleep to Celebration playing

So to answer your question - I would stay higher up as floor levels go. You also cut down on the traffic by your door. However, if you want to be by the main pool I don't think it will be too quiet.

thanks for the replies. i can't decide which would be better. on the one hand, i think it would be great not to have to negotiate more stairs after a fun-filled day in the parks...on the other hand, i would hate to have stomping going on over my head all night!! hmmm, decisions, decisions

oh, one more thing, i may not have been clear, but i guess my questions would be ... when looking at the POP resort map, the room #s on one side are 5101-5472 and 4101-4472 on the other side, which room #s are closest to the "Hippy Dippy Pool"? And which rooms are closest to the lake?

    Thanks again!

Wow, we'll be there right before you guys!

I wanted to say quickly that the preferred rooms at Pop are so worth a little extra pool noise. Because the doors to the rooms at Pop open to an exterior hallway, they are quite heavy and weather-proof, which makes them nicely sound-proof as well. You'll hear a little, but it's not overly noisy. Our kids (and us!) are always so pooped out at the end of our Disney day that we could probably sleep through a tornado, though.

I love being on the first floor, close to the pool. It makes such a difference not having to drudge up and down the stairs all week long.

During our Christmas 2007 trip, we stayed in the 50s building on the second floor facing the pool. The people in the pool were terribly noisy and stayed in the water 2 hours past the curfew time. I wish Pop would enforce their pool curfews. Those guests were very inconsiderate. I am going back in June and will definitely ask for a room away from the pool!

We always get a preferred room in the 50's at Thanksgiving and have never had a bad room location. The 50's is closest to Classic Hall, in our experience.

We will be staying at POP too for one night (arriving late in the evening) and will be departing in the morning to head to BCR. My kids would probably like to stay at the 70's location (we all LOVE the 70's show..lol), but I am more interested in staying somewhere close to the main building so that we don't have far to walk with luggage in the morning. Any suggestions? Should we just request a room in the 70's area as close to the main building? Thanks!

We always request the same room area each time we go. We stay in building 4 1st floor right in from of the Hippy Dippy Pool. Couple of reasons: Right in front of the pool, very close to the bar, very close to laundry(that way you don't have to stay with it) very close to the main building where you refil drinks, get food, play at the arcade and go to the bus. We have 3 small kids and the noise at the pool has never kept any of us from getting a good night sleep. I always bring a white noise machine but the resort has them built in the clock radio.

    Have fun!!

Forgot to mention that this past trip I did request 3 specific rooms and got them.

We do the same!!! We love this spot. I normally just ask for 90's building closest the bus stop and the parking lot. We drive so we want to be close to the lot and if your close to the bus stop your close to century hall.

We no longer book the preferred rooms...twice we faced the pool in the 60's...and there were kids in the pool, yelling and screaming at 1am for at least an hour...they were under ten. WHERE WERE THEIR PARENTS....

is the pool used a bunch during December? i would think it would be too cold. i mean, i realize that florida isn't known for super cold weather, but when we were there in 2005, a super cold cold front blew through. we had to buy a blanket for our DD and two sweaters for us. it was absolutely wonderful weather, just chilly!!

I believe the pools are heated in the winter so people can swim year round at WDW resorts. Not me...I have thin blood being born in FL!
I guess the folks that visit from up north don't find it as cold as I do.
So count on people swimming even in the winter.
