    Default Planning Planning Planning

DCL Newbie reaching out for help.

We are booked on 7 Night Eastern with Tortola in May. We have 4 days in the world before we get on the boat.

    Cast:
    DH 49
    Me 39
    DD 16
    DD 7

Here's the kicker: My husband and I are renewing our Vows on the boat. We've already called Disney Weddings and I'm planning lots of fun things for that day (Thursday at sea before Castaway Cay). I'm doing spa and hair stuff! We'll have our Palo dinner that night.

We're getting the girls etched glass slippers as a gift from Arribas at MK. Both girls will be part of the ceremony. Disney has an impressive "selection" of ceremony types and I'm having a blast planning!

    My question is:

What are we missing? Is that the standard fireworks night? What is the usual "formal" night?

Anyone else done a wedding on DCL?

I've yet to do a week long cruise, but I did want to congratulate you... this sounds like it's going to be so much fun. Can't wait to hear all about it as the plans unfold.

I've only taken a 4 night cruise, but there are navigators that people have posted that can give you an idea of what to expect. Of course, none of them will have Tortola, but it should help a bit.

I believe there's a sticky at the top of this DCL forum with Navigator information.

Congratulations and I hope you have a great cruise!

    Default Update

I just heard back from the Wedding Planner. The Vow Renewal comes with so much fun stuff: Flowers, Cake, Music, Palo, Champagne, and a BIG surprise: Concierge.

I got my dress in the mail. Now I have to decide what the girls will wear. We ordered the photo package so we will have lots of pictures.

It looks like I'll be able to make my Excursion arrangements before I can make my ADRs for the 4 days at AKV before the ship sails.

    I'm so excited

    Default Sail date

Sail Date is 5/23. Vow renewal on desk on 5/28 (day at sea). I'm getting so excited. The Disney Wedding planning is so much fun. Flowers, music (Disney, of course) and much more.

I'm going to Arribas at the MK the first day there to get my DDs glass slippers as "Princess Gifts". Names on one side and "Disney Cruise 5/29" on the other side.

Now if I could just THINK of what to get on our new rings. Who has ideas???

Probably too long for a ring inscription but I'm partial to: "Once in awhile, right in the middle of ordinary life... Love gives us a fairy tale."

    Default Very Sweet

Both good suggesions! Our favorite is "wishes". We even bought the soundtrack last time there.

"All our wishes.. will come true"

    What do you think?

2/7 I can make my excursion arrangements. How crazy is that? BEFORE the time I can make ADRs for before the cruise. Seems weird but I'm going with it.

Wow this sounds like a lot of fun. My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th in the year 2011. You have just given me a terrific idea...we originally were thinking about going to Hawaii but after reading your plans I may have to talk to dear hubs about doing something similar.

Have great fun planning!! Looking forward to reading more of your adventure.

    Default Excursions are booked!

Good news! All excursions are booked. I'm having a spa day on Sunday!!! Thursday is vow renewal. We're going to have a wonderful, romantic time. We got the new DCL DVD in the mail. Its nice to let the kids watch and yell "I'm gonna go there".

DD16 is NOT interested in the teen club. She may change her mind once she gets there. She's very shy though and doesn't really introduce herself and make friends easily.

Anyone got advice for a shy 16 year old?

    Default 8 Days away

OK guys, I got 8 days before I hop on the plane! Everything is planned. I'll bring back some Navigators and Tortola reports because I haven't seen them in the post it on the top of the Cruise section.

    Here's our basic intenerary:

Staying at AKV, Jambo House Studio with Savanah View!
Tues: DHS (Dinner at Prime Time Cafe)
Wed: EPCOT (Dinner at the Italian Place)
Thurs: MK (Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern)
Fri: AK (Dinner at Boma) I picked this for last day since we'll need to get ready for the cruise the next day. I'm shipping some boxes down to AKV try to defray the "baggage" costs with the airlines.

I chose to have Disney cart us back and forth. I know there were also other recommendations, like Quicksilver but the girls were excited about the "porthole" bus of DCL.

Board the Magic: Sunday is at sea day and I've booked 3 different spa treatments for me. Sunday is also Formal night. Tuesday is Tortola. Tuesday night is Pirate Night. Wednesday is St John/St Maartin. Thursday is Vow Renewal night. Friday is Castaway Cay.

I've printed and signed all of the cruise documents. We have our passports. We have the rings. Re-checked the airline stuff. Got my packing list (but haven't had time to pack - yes its a 4 AM post but people are sleeping in my "staging area") Am I missing anything?
