    Default Dinner assignments?

    We are taking a 3 day cruise for Christmas and it is our first cruise. How do you know what restaurant you have to go to each night?

    On your room "key" (actually a card just like those used at WDW) your rotation will be coded something like "TAP" which translates to Triton's the first night, Artist's Pallette the second night, and Parrot Cay the third night.

    Enjoy the cruise! You're going to love the decorations, along with everything else about the cruise!

    Nice use of color coding Ed . The cards also indicate your table number (same for all 3 restaurants) and seating time. Unfortunately, you won't know until check-in what dining rotation you have. This can complicate matters, especially if you want to give Palo a try for dinner one night.

    I will be going on my first Disney cruise in March as part of a Disney Travel Agent training program. I am so looking forward to checking everything out.

    I've been booking Disney Cruises but it is hard to answer certain questions without actually having gone on one. The training I've had is great but I want the experience so I can offer personal recommendations to clients.

    I like the coding on the key...makes it easy to remember where you need to be and if you are confused, a cm can look at the card and tell you where you need to go.

    My first cruise (non-disney) was a free work trip. Overall it was not what I thought a cruise should be and I attributed it to the fact that the ship was older and smaller and didn't offer much in way of activties and fun. It was pretty much hang by the pool and drink during the day...go to dinner, hit the casino a little, drink and go to a club. We did see 1 show...a reflection of disco. We had 1 day on the cruise lines private island which I liked..and 1 day in Nassau...which I didn't.

    On my Disney cruise I know I will enjoy Castaway cay and as for Nassau...I will either go check out Atlantis or really check out the ship. One of the days on the cruise is a training session...maybe it will be while we are in Nassau.

    Unless you are travelling in a CAT 1, 2 or 3.
    The Concierge will set you up on any one of the available dining rotations at the 105 day advance booking window... which is essential for Palo resevation timing.

    Yes they will. We've sailed in a category 3 a few times, but only once did we request a specific rotation. They were very accomodating.

    We've sailed exclusively in 1BR Suites and enjoy the conveniences afforded by the larger room and the second full bath (shower/sink/toilet) when the two of us are getting ready to go somewhere. In a recent case, my wife had a 'bad night' of seasickness following a bit too much rum and dancing and 12-15' seas. It was nice to close the sliding frosted glass doors between the bedroom and the living room so she could sleep extra long the next morning while I was up and about. I can not speak highly enough of the the Concierge Teams on both Magic and Wonder. They make a special trip all the more relaxing and enjoyable by handling many details and doing their utmost to get us 'in' anywhere we have wanted. The daily food and treats and gifts to the suite are fun and interesting, and we particularly have enjoyed the Concierge Receptions both on our arrival aboard (in Sessions) and the sail-away from St. Thomas on 10 Aft just a couple wekks ago. There was an amazing rainbow that appeared as we sailed away that added extra extra magic this time.

    Since this is about eating assignments, I'll mention that CAT1-2-3 also may have the full menu from each or any evening meal served in-suite and on your debarkation morning you may have a continental breakfast served to your suite instead of having to go to the dining area. This can be a great way to head out as soon as the ship is cleared if you have an early day planned at the Parks.
    If readers have the opportunity to sail in 1-2-3, I recommend it, but you'll usually need to book early-early as they go fast!

    As an addendum, on the 4 night cruises, the third night repeats the previous nights restaurant, but with the "Pirate" menu.

    For example, mine was PTTA
    P=Parrot Cay
    T=Triton's
    A=Animator's Palate
