In my back yard.. But seriously, we don't need new parks. Fix what they have. There is a lot wrong with WDW right now. Cutbacks are killing the Mouse House. They need to upgrade a lot of things. God they charge us enough now for less. Closing live shows that we all used to watch. Closing rides. So instead of building new parks, add to what they have. Believe me it would be nice to have a park near my neck of the woods. I don't mind traveling 1400 miles to get away from it all.

As nice as it would be to have a park closer to home here in Michigan (and they can work around the weather issues; i.e. Disneyland Paris), I think they would be better off remaining focused on developing and plussing the parks and resorts already in existence.

Not to be a party pooper....

but even the suggestion of Disney expanding with another park is ludicrous....

they have poory planned and developed parks in Hong Kong, Paris, California, and Florida....currently....

In fact....the only location that hasn't been bungled over the last 15 years is Japan....

and they don't even foot the bills there.....

Disney needs no new parks....currently. And if they do expand in the semi-near future (10 years)...it will have to be in florida again....because they seem he'll bent on timesharing themselves into oblivion....

just because disney parks have been crowded for five years.....don't make the mistake of thinking that they didn't make a string of horrible decisions from 94-2005 that will HAVE to be corrected.

Well I will attempt to bring this post back around and since it is designed as both a hypothetic as we ass fun and not really a factual conversation. I would say Australia for the next DL.

I know it's a long way for most of you but I live in New Zealand, and trust me, we try to get to WDW every year and believe me when I say that you don't know how expensive or time consuming a trip to WDW is until you have to fly for 20 hours to get there. Our trip this year was for 2 weeks (after that flight you want to stay as long as possible) and the most expensive part of the trip was still the flights.

This area would be great for Asia as well as the local (and as far as Africa) tourism trade. The weather is great here, the people are very friendly (especially in NZ) and it is designed in general as a major tourist location already. This would just bring more. The transition would be easier than many other countries for the tourists as English is the predominant language here.

    Just a thought.

If a park could be built anywhere why not in the North or midwestern states? With the technology today a themepark with all of it glory could be placed indoors in a climate controlled atmosphere. I wonder what imaginerring could come up with? Expensive? Yes. Unrealistic at this time? Yes. Thinking outside the box has created many wonderful things in this world and Walt Disney had his share and we are the recipients.

How about vegas? Its already a tourist mecca for adults...add a theme park and now the whole family can go....Of course I do see that the combo of sin city mixed with family magic could present some problems...but I see tons of families in vegas now.....whats a few thousand more?

There is only one location where I could see a new Disneyland being built any time in the next 10-20 years: Dubai.

Universal is building there and it is THE tourist destination for Europe and the middle east.

The only other possibilities I can think of, with Tokyo and Hong Kong already keeping the Asian market cornered, would be Macao if they want to build in China again. There's always the possibility of putting a park in Brazil but I don't see it being especially feasible.

I read Shanghai as a possible overseas expansion. Another asia location seems overkill. I agree Dubai seems the next area businesses are going. Domestically I like the idea of Nashville. Houston is a good second but it has hurricane season risks much as or perhpas more than Orlando.

    Same here.

But, I would have to say in New England, I mean, there are other parks here that run just fine, so I don't see a problem why they couldn't put one here (they probably couldn't run in winter though)

Before Walt Disney World was constructed Walt looked at building some sort of indoor shopping/theme park in St. Louis. But after awhile that became a red herring to keep people's attention off of all the land he was buying in central Florida.

I would like to see them try something indoors in a colder climate -- either in Colorado or Chicago. It would be interesting to see what they would come up with.

I agree! It's on another continent! And Disney has one of it's "Adventures" there, so why not have a park? Part of the tour could be a day at the Australian Disney park.

    .
Walt actually looked at building a second Disneyland in Missouri, prior to building the Magic Kingdom in Florida. (Walt's hometown is in Missouri. )

The beer lobby (aka Anheuser Busch) killed any chance of a deal on this very early in the game because Disney insisted on the park being a dry park. Unless Disney allowed beer to be served in the park, they were told "No deal." In Missouri, AB gets what AB wants. Disney wouldn't bend on the issue and AB wouldn't bend on the issue, so Disney gave up on the whole idea.

I really don't think a park in Missouri or Chicago is a good idea, even an indoor park. The weather is terrible. Even if the park is indoor, you have to drive to the park and walk to the building. I was in Chicago the week before Christmas -- it was -5 F.

St. Louis isn't much better. It will be +5 in St. Louis tomorrow.

Orlando is a two hour flight from St. Louis and a three hour flight from Chicago. It's just too close by air to warrant another park in the Midwest.

South America or southern Mexico would be a great place for a park.

South America and Central America area have no park. There is a large population, with a growing economy and middle class. They'd love to have the jobs. The weather is good.

    I vote for Disneyland Rio.
