    Default Acronym Idea

I know the subject of the use of acronyms comes up often, especially from people new to the boards and I had an idea. Is it possible to set up a cross-over pop-up, similar to what occurs for the message headers that would provide the meaning of the acronym? It wouldn't cover everything, but you could probably easily build a database of 90% of them and it would help to encourage people who are new to the boards. Just a suggestion, I have no idea how difficult it would be to execute.

Not sure of what you're proposing but this might help.

When you pass over the subject header of a message with your mouse, the first few lines appear in a pop up window. I am suggesting that code could be written such that when something like POFQ appears in a message if you passed the mouse pointer over the word the definition would pop up "Port Orleans French Quarter" similar to the way the first few lines of a message do currently for a subject header. People then wouldn't need to refer back to a document. Again, no big deal, just a thought to make things easier.

That's a great idea. I imagine it would take someone that manages the board software writing a script to handle it though.

Also, Guests are encouraged to write out a term followed by the acronym the first time the use it in a post (if they choose to use acrinyms at all).

Ex. The Magic Kingdom (MK) is my favorite park. A visit to Walt Disney World with-out visiting MK, would be like no visit at all.

While a feature like you suggest would be nice, our Guests can also alleviate the problem themselves with being conscientious about their posts.

We really can't stress this enough!

There are often obscure acronyms used on these boards that are confusing to even us seasoned Disney vets. Imagine a newbie planning their first trip, and having the obstacle of trying to figure out what JINPC (Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian) or TSNF (The Seas with Nemo & Friends) means.

Lots of folks will just give up and never ask. We don't want to scare anyone away!
