    Exclamation Standard Inside Stateroom Question

My boyfriend and I are rethinking going on our annual WDW trip this Nov. and instead taking a four day cruise on the Disney Wonder. We both have never been on a cruise or been to the Bahamas. We found a really great deal on expedia. It will be about $950 with taxes for the trip for an inside state room. I am just wondering how comfortable these rooms are. It will be just the 2 of us and we probably won;t spend much time in the room anyway considering this will be our first cruise ever! Also, does anyone know if you can upgrade your room once you check onto the ship and if they usually offer a discount to do this? Thank you all!

Upgrades are few and far between on most of the DCL cruises; they usually sell out and sail with a full ship. And if upgrades ARE available, you can almost bet there will be no discount.

We haven't stayed in an inside cabin, but one of our sons did, and he said it was surprisingly roomy. And like you said, you really don't spend that much time in the cabin.

This is true. They usually offer some great last minute deals to Florida residents and try to sail at full capacity.

Actually, it's the exact opposite. If there is availabilty when you arrive at the port, you can score some great discounts on an upgrade. The trick is getting on a cruise that isn't sold out and being one of the first to arrive at check-in. Available rooms go fast, so you have to be at the port early and ask right away.

It's sometimes worthwhile to book a lower level guaranteed category stateoom. Basically for the level 12 staterooms, instead of assigning you a stateroom, they simply guarantee you'll at least be in that category. What that means is, that if the category starts selling out, they can upgrade your stateroom level and open up the lower priced category for new bookings. Again, just another reason why they typically sail with a full ship. It doesn't always happen, but if you're planning on booking a lower level anyway, it may be worth it.

    Default Inside rooms

I always stay in an inside room. I like the darkness when sleeping and since you are not it in long why pay the price. When I went on the 4 night I heard many people say that it was not worth the price since three of the days they were off the ship and didn't get to enjoy the balcony. The rooms on DCL are large compared to other ships I have been on.

I've been on 2 DCL cruises now, a 4 niter w/ a porthole window and a 7 niter w/ an inside stateroom. Although the room is fairly spacious, I probably wouldn't do the windowless-thing again. Without a window, inside the ship like that, you don't really have any sense of what time it is. Add to that the fact that the room clock is analog and doesn't light up an dyou have a good degree of time-disorientation in there. Maybe that's not much of an issue for other people, but next time I'll spend the few hundred more for a minimum of an oceanview room, if not a navigator's veranda.
