Default magical express and car rental

We are going to WDW late August and we signed up for DME but we are also renting a car. Are we able to just use Magical express for our luggage?
We just want to use DME for the luggage service so we don't have to worry about waiting and picking up our bags at the airport.

No you could not do this.
DME only takes both the person and the luggage. THey check you in at the DME counter in MCO.
In the times we live in no one would not take unaccompanied luggage

Your luggage is not on your bus; so technically all of the luggage is unaccompanied by its owner.

It is against the spirit of the DME, but you could check in and then not get in the line for your bus. Don't think that there is a specific policy against using only the luggage service.

It appears that both people here are trying to get the OP to violate the terms of the DME contract, not to mention the terms of service for Intercot

That was not my intention. I was not aware that there was any specific language stating that you could not use DME for your luggage. Please provide if you have knowledge of such language. As stated by another member, I do not believe that your luggage necessarily travels with the passenger. As an employee of DHS, I can tell you that DME is pretty much without security. It is not much different than using a limo, taxi, or other shuttle service. It's just direct and free. As far as terms of service for Intercot, what are you referring to? And again that was not my intention.

Taken directly from Disneyworld.com, FAQ for DME:

    Q. Can I book a "luggage-only" transfer?

    A. No. To utilize Disney's Magical Express Service, you must participate in both the motor coach transportation and the luggage transfer services.

And from Intercot's TOS which you agreed to when you became a member:

We do not promote "cheating the system".

And yes, the luggage does travel on a truck separate from it's owner. However, DME luggage is tagged and those bags are pulled before the luggage is sent out to the general public on the luggage carousel.
The luggage is scanned 5 different times from what I understand but CleveRocks can explain that process much better than I can.

You can not book luggage transfer only. You must be on the motorcoach to have your luggage transported.

This is a quote from the Magical express information.
