Default Hotel in Vegas for thirty-somethings

We are going to Vegas before our Disneyland trip Sept. 28-30. We have a reservation at Palace Station, but it seems so far away from everything. I'm thinking of cancelling it and booking at another hotel.

Here are the hotels we're looking at:
TI (It looks cool, but kinda twenty-something ish)
    Luxor
    Stratosphere
    New York New York

We want a hotel that has a spa suite. We are looking for something that has good dining, fun activities, and we can be comfoprtable there. (Hubby is a real t-shirt and jeans guy).

Out of the four you listed I would pick the Luxor. It has alot to do and is really nice.

We stayed at Treasure Island years ago when it was only a couple of years old and loved it but I wasn't as impressed with it this year.

The Stratosphere is really not in the thick of things either.

NYNY seemed a litlle closed in to me.

The last visit we stayed at the Venetian and it was out of this world. They also only have suites so the room was huge. When we go again we will either be staying at the Venetian again or at Mandalay Bay.

We stayed at NYNY when it first opened and it was nice except for the roller coaster. LOUD. Mandalay is very nice and romantic but expensive. I agree with the Venetian. Very nice. But out of the list I would stay at the Luxor. Nice. They also have a tram that goes between the Mandalay bay, luxor and Excalibar. If you like seafood I would try out the buffet at Mandalay bay. It is a little pricey but great food. Have a great time.

I've only been to Vegas once and I stayed at the Venetian. The rooms were huge and it was a beautiful place to stay. The beds were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The bathroom had a shower and separate tub, two sinks, the toiet was separate, and there was a vanity area. There was separate seating area that was big enough to hold a sectional size couch. We had a great view of the strip. It's right on the strip and within walking distance to Ceasar's (we shopped there a lot).
I don't know anything about the hotels the original poster listed, but I thought I'd add my two cents in about the Venetian.

Have you considered Paris Las Vegas? It is (somewhat) centrally located and it has a monorail stop in the back (though Bally's). We've stayed there 4 years straight and love it. Plus, if you upgrade to a strip view room, those rooms overlook the Bellagio's fountains! Love it!!

Just to confirm your feeling about the Palace Station - it does feel somewhat out of things. There is an annual convention in LV for MINI Cooper owners, and the host hotel is the Palace Station because it's off the Strip and easier to drive in and out of. Without the car, we wouldn't even have seen anything on the Strip.

We stayed in Caesars and the place blew our mind. The pools are excellent ..During our stay we popped into nearly all the hotels along the strip .
New York New York looked real fun as well as Paris
    and Excalibur
The one place that did disappoint me though was the Luxor .The rooms overlooked the complex and the sales people just wouldnt leave you alone

Check out Planet Hollywood. It was a very nice hotel when it was the Aladdin, and now it's even better.

I was there in March, and even got to see the red carpet for the premier of the movie "21".

It's a fun place, but not stuffy - pretty much in the center of the strip (MGM to the left when exiting hotel). The rooms are pretty large, and it's a hip, but not too hip atmosphere. They're attached to a mall with several restaurants, and even have a P.F. Chang's.

I like it a LOT more than the rooms at TI and New York, NY. Stratosphere is ok, and definitely better than Palace Station, but it is at the beginning of the old strip.

Look for codes online for good rates. You might even want to sign up for a player's club card online so they'll email you some deals. If you want a good site for Vegas discount does, feel free to PM me.

    Have a great time!

What about the Mirage? They have been having some great deals and the resort is very comfortable. It is right next door to TI w/ a monorail running between the two. We have been staying there at least once a year for five years now. No need to worry about attire unless you go to a high end restaurant. The pool complex at the Mirage is one of the best. Their rooms were just renovated this year and are very comfortable. We stayed in one a couple of weeks ago and were happy w/ the renovations.

I did stay at the Luxor in a tower room, not the pyramid. It was fine since it was our first trip and had nothing to compare to. Once I hit the Mirage, haven't wanted to stay anywhere else.

My we were in Vegas a few months ago, stayed at the Luxor, in the Pyramid portion. Room was decent but nothing great. You could see where it needed to be redone. But wouldn't stay there again. My choice would be NYNY. Loved the way it replicates it. Go to ESPN for a casual night. Great buffet a Wynn! Either way, enjoy. We can't wait to go back.

My DH and I love to go to Vegas. We liked staying at the Mirage and TI, but our absolute favorite is Mandalay Bay. The rooms there are beautiful and the pool area is amazing. There is a train that will take you up the strip a bit since you are so far south, so that helps.
You'll have a great time where ever you go.

Ok, it's down to Luxor vs. NYNY.

I found a great deal on NYNY where you can get an upgrade to a spa suite for not a lot of $$. We're leaning toward NYNY. It has a lot of stuff that we both would enjoy. One question: How loud is the roller coaster? Can you get a room a bit away from the coaster?

    Default We're booked!

We decided to go with Luxor. They had a great deal I just couldn't pass up. For $20 more, I could get complimentary internet, phone, and daily spa passes! I am so there!

Have a great time! I haven't been in thier hotel rooms but like the casino and entertainment areas alot. Their is a ton of non gambling stuff to do. I think you made the best choice out of the three.

I have to say the Palms is a more 30 something see and be seen kind of place. It is newer, nice, not cheesy and laid back with good night life, wonderful dining try N9NE for dinner and drinks. Ghost bar and Rain were also fun. There is also a fast food court. Most guests were young people, we are also 30 somethings. The casino was nice and DH won $$$$ stayed up all night playing craps. We met many locals in the Casino and the dealers were friendly. However, it is not on the strip and you have to take a taxi to Ceasars from here. I would not walk it. A taxi in vegas is not cheap or quick since traffic is horrible. If you don't mind paying for a taxi and fighting with drivers, they will try to cheat you.
