    Default Backstage Safari

Has anyone here been on the backstage safari. I was thinking about booking the tour but wanted to get an idea of what you do on it. Love zoos and thought this would be really cool.

A group of us did the Backstage Safari during the Intercot 10th Anniversary celebration and had a great time.

It starts off with a special Safari before the general guests get to board and you learn about the hidden secrets on the ride. The guide pointed out markers for the drivers, hidden barriers and feeders. After the Safari you head back towrads Rafiki's Planet Watch and go backstage to the animal's night houses. We got to spend some time with a Rhino and his keeper and then walked over to the Elephant area. We then Proceeded to the Animal Nutrition Center and learned about what they feed the animals and how the food is prepared. After that we took a short snack break and some keepers brought in a bird and talked to us about it for a while and then we proceeded to the hospital area. Overall it was a great tour and very informative I think you will enjoy it.

Took DH on backstage tour in March (his b-day gift from Feb). We enjoyed it so much. We wanted to send my parents on it but my sister had other ideas.

You get to go behind the scenes and learn about the animals and the environment that Disney developed for them.

We took the afternoon tour - we got to AK for EMH in the am then had lunch at Tusker House (I would pass for anyone interested) and finished the afternoon with the tour. It was a great day.

We stayed at AKL so we understood more about the animals and habitat. I have a great appreciation and love of the animals. Go BIG CATS! I like the giraffe too!

From our experience, this is very accurate. The exact animals and keepers you see depends on the day, though - we saw an elephant being trained and got a close-up view of a giraffe and talked to the giraffe keeper. And our animal during our break was a snake. Our safari was at the end of our tour, not the beginning.
