Massive Fire Raging @ Universal City, CA

CNN was broadcasting video of the fire... it looked so surreal... It really looked like a movie scene....

I've got to say BRAVO to Universal Studios Personnel and the Firefighters for managing to get this fire under control without major injury to any of their guests or surrounding property.

I heard them say today that the fire was appearently caused by a blow torch when they where repairing a roof.

They also said that they wouldn't be rebuilding the King Kong part of the backlot tour Which really stinks because I was kind of sad when they took it out of the Universal in Orlando so I was hoping if I ever made it out there I would be able to see that part of the ride again but I guess I can't do that now

The combination of Kong and Back to the Future being gone pretty much guarantees that Universal Hollywood is going to be off of my itinerary when in Socal.

It's really sad they aren't going to rebuild King Kong it was such an iconic part of the tour

Yesterday they were reporting the King Kong attraction would be rebuilt, but today I see Universal is saying they will replace it with a whole new attraction. It has been at the park for over 20 years so it is probably time for something new, though I enjoyed it on the tour ... No more smell of banana breath in your face. I don't get to Univeral Studios Hollywood as much as I used to before I moved to Orange County, I haven't tried the new Simpsons attracton yet.
