    Cast: Mary (Me) & Jim

    Sunday, April 20, 2008

We arrived at Pop Century to check in, our rooms aren’t available yet, but we are told that they will be in the 50s section and on the ground floor.

We take our rental car (I drive) to Epcot and park in Discover 18. We walk to the front of the park and once through security and turn style we arrive at Spaceship Earth. It says a 20 minute wait, and while in line we see something that I’ve never seen at WDW and hope not to see again, someone inline breastfeeding a child. The ride goes down for a while and we don’t move for at least another 10-15 minutes. We are finally on the ride after about 40 minutes. Jim enjoys the new additions of Spaceship Earth but agrees that the new ending is a lot to be desired. Plus our touch screen monitor is not working properly.

I called Jeanne (Piglet822) to see where they are when we arrive at Epcot, Jeanne told me that they were coming to Epcot today. When we got off Spaceship Earth I’m on the phone with Jeanne and I run smack dab into Jim (Jeanne’s BF). Jim is trying to locate his oldest son who has gone off. Jeanne comes after a bit and we talk for a few minutes. Jim and I are hungry so we say that we will call after lunch to see where they are in Epcot.

Jim and I head off to World Showcase in search of food. We both decide on U.K. Fish & Chips. The line isn’t too bad and we are eating over near British Invasion shortly.

We just mosey around World Showcase with no real plans for today as we know we will back later in the week. Jim’s sister wants some perfume from Norway so we make a stop and he checks out the prices. He will purchase the perfume later in the week. The line for Maelstrom is a little too long so we go through the Stave Church.

Onto Mexico where we ride Grand Fiesta Tour. When I get out of Mexico Jeanne calls, they have found the missing son and are over at The Land pavilion. Jim and I wander over to The Land and there is Jim up on the top level. Jeanne comes over shortly. We talk for a while as the boys are riding Soarin’.

Jim and I leave shortly as we are getting a bit tired, getting up at 4am is taking a toll on both of us. We leave The Land and call Pop to get our room assignments. We take the car back to the Pop where we rest for a few hours, buy a refillable mug and just more or less relax. We had big plans for Magic Kingdom as it was open for Extra Magic Hours until 2am today.

Problem was that both of our rooms overlooked the bowling pin pool so that means that it’s not quiet until more or less midnight.

We leave the room around 5pm for the TTC, park in Dopey 110, took the monorail and arrived over at the Magic Kingdom at 6pm. We went to “my” TTA first and rode around, love that ride, always will.

Next up was Carousel of Progress, then over to Cosmic Rays for a burger and French Fries. We had Fast Passes for Buzz Lightyear and they were ripe so we went over there after dinner. I wasn’t very good for some reason and Jim won this round. A couple pictures of the castle and then over to the Haunted Mansion. This is a first for both of us for the “new & improved” Haunted Mansion. We both loved the stair and the attic rooms, very cool.

The Liberty Belle was about to depart so we got onboard and went to the top deck for a cruise of the Rivers of America. At this point it was getting dark, and that made me feel even more tired than I already was, we decided to ride Pirates and then go back to the room.

So ends a good first day.

Sounds like a great first day. Sorry that you got a room facing that pool!! Nothing is worse than when you get back to your room after a long day and then people are being noisy out at the pool!! We always request a room facing the parking lot so that we don't have to deal with that. Hopefully you ended up having so much fun during the day that the noise was no challenge to the tired bodies!!
