    Default "Complimentary" Companion Airfare

I just need to vent and to also share some info : with those of you who might end up in the same boat.

It's not a new story that's for sure.

I received one of those "Complimentary Companion Airfare" Vouchers from Companion Booking. When I checked their website for flights from Mpls to Orlando for our next trip to WDW. The price for the 1 ticket was $546. This includes my free ticket. Well, I checked the airline's website for the same date and found that those same flights are $273 per person. So, I"m not really getting anything free! Not even getting a discount! In fact, other airlines are offering the flight for even less!

It didn't cost me anything to get the voucher, so I didn't lose anything, but I still feel slighted.

So if you get one of these offers, be sure to do the checking. Don't get duped into paying for something that was supposed to be free.

P.S. If you need to move this somewhere else, please do so.

I get a companion ticket through my credit card/frequent flyer. Mine gives me a companion ticket based on the going price for the ticket. I get them every year, and have used them each time. I guess it depends on where the companion ticket voucher is coming from.

It definitely depends on where it comes from. I had rec'd the same kind of thing a few times before and it was like you said so that's why I was excited about this one. I filed a complaint with BBB last night but I doubt anything will come of it. It's not like I lost any $ on it.

Some, not all, of the companion ticket offers restrict the fare code that the purchased ticket must be on. I'd be upset as well.

I have equal frustration with Frequent Flier redemption seats. They are not always the reward that they make them out to be with the limited number of seats allocated for non-revenue travel.
