The Show Had 2 Go On

Alrighty... I sure wish some of ya's lived close enough by to come and see us when we do these silly things! But, that aside...
Last night went well, all things considered.

Chris was still congested and squeeky, but he sang as much as he could until his voice started going out. Stevie took up the backing vocals Chris usually does when I'm singing lead, and I not only sang a few extra of the numbers I do lead vocals on but picked up a few of Chris's. I had some vocal issues during the 1st set because my monitor blew a fuse and I couldn't hear anything on my side, so I over compensated and wound up screechy on a few songs (not according to the crowd though.) I was also trying a new home remedy of fresh ginger root tea with honey... it only made me dry! Dump that out and go back to what works best lately: ICE water!

I was already in pain leading up to the show, but managed to make it half-way through the second set before my back became real bad and quickly tossed down a pain pill. My knees held well right up until we did "Rock & Roll all Nite", when near the end I was squatted down and had trouble getting back up. Needless to say, the wife saw that and duly admonished me afterwards.

We were called back up for 2 encores... the lounge manager wanted to close at midnight sharp, but due to the demanding crowd he told us to get ourselves back up there NOW! We'll get a break for a week, then the week after we go back there for some Wednesday night shows (apparently this is the night they have the most business... in the middle of the week?) So all of next week we'll be working up songs for when we hit the studio on the 15th.

Seemed easier (maybe?) to post the first new picture we got last night and if you just go to the next it should take you through them all... if not, let me know. We have more pictures that haven't come in yet taken with special lenses, so I'll link them too when they get developed.

Ouch on the back.

No worries though.. I went to see The Guess Who in concert a few years ago and Randy Bachman had to sit on a stool most of the night.


Maybe you should paint yourself up a funky stool... for those times when your body reminds you it isn't what it used to be.

Maybe you need ICE packs with the Relix logo on, or (as Patti Suggested) - cool stools with the Relix logo...

Guess we'll find out tomorrow just how bad the damage is, eh?
A stool? Ice bags? Not a bad idea, but I just imagine me going back to that "coffee house" type of set-up... just ain't my nature! Boy's gotta ROCK!
But I am trying to take care of myself. Unfortunately, as our latest blog says, I'm the "guy most likely to break his neck or throw his back out" to put on a good show! What can I do?

...so if your still reading this...
The doctor asked me what the hooey I've been doing for the last 4 weeks;
Told him I'd been on a treadmill twice a day two days a week for an accumulative 45-60 minutes. He said, stop.
Told him I fell on my booty and bruised my backside. He said stop falling down.
Told him both knees, my back and left hand (especially my middle finger) had been in pain and sometimes was even swollen and stiff.
Also told him about... my "night-time hobbies", which he had nothing to say about (whew!)
So, after some range of motion tests and feeling the afffected joints (warm and swollen says he) he says that my denerative arthritic condition is in a full blown flare-up. Took me off my current medication and put me on a week of corticosteroids.
Gosh, next week oughta be sooooo much fun!

Wow ice nice pictures!! I wish we lived closer to. Maybe you can make it over to cleveland sometime. Hope you are feeling better. Take care of yourself we need our ice man Tell lady ice way to go on keep you in line lol

Careful what ya wish for... this stuff has been keeping me up at night with bizarre dreams and weird nightmares!

We can all thank my FAVORITE photographer... and th Lady who tries sooooo hard to keep me in line... Lady Ice! She makes us all look good!
And yeah, I wish y'all did live a tad closer, but before this year is out we WILL have a CD of our own stuff available! We worked on 2 of our songs tonight over and over and over and over... and they started to really come together at the end! Ready for the studio next week!!!
