Default Do I have a chance of a AAA room coming avl in January?

I was wondering how does the cancelations work? I am wanting a courtyard view room... and the only problem I have is the first day of my stay.. its open the rest of the time.... they can't book me for one night.. they say..

Are you inquiring about the availability of any courtyard view room, or specifically a discounted AAA room?

I would say that odds are slim to none that you'll be able to get your hands on AAA discounted room at this late date. Even if there is a cancellation, they more than likely will not put that room back into discounted inventory.

Are they saying that the resort is full and that you cannot check in the first night of your choice? Or are they just saying that they do not have a courtyard view available for the first night of your stay?

Keep calling back every day, even twice a day, and cross your fingers!

    It's possible but unlikely.

For each category of room at each resort, Disney management has a super-secret target occupancy rate. If the occupancy rate for a given day is at or higher than that target, then no discounts are offered. If the occupancy rate is lower than that target, they offer the AAA discount because they need to try to sell more rooms.

So let's just pretend that the target occupancy rate for a courtyard room at that resort is 80% ... if fewer than 80% of the rooms are booked, they will allow the discount rate, but once the occupancy rate meets or exceeds 80% then they stop offering the discount. If the actual occupancy rate is teetering right at the 80% mark, just one cancellation can send the occupancy rate dipping below the 80% mark, and the AAA discount rate will be available again.

What you need to keep in mind is that if they are currently at a 90% occupancy rate for that date, they'd need a heckuva lotta cancellations to have the occupancy rate dip below the 80% mark for that date.

Again, these numbers aren't real, but the idea is very real. It's not a matter of a single room being put back into an AAA inventory ... it's whether or not the target occupancy rate is met.
