Pogo and Patti's "Hot Air" Pre-trip Report

OK.... some of you have asked for it, so here goes.

The cast:

pogo..... well, most of you know me by now.

DW.... Patti.... too shy to join but loves to tell me what to post. (don't all our DW's do this? )

Dates : October 10th to the 17th.

The What:
Whilst we won't be going to WDW with all our friends for the 10th anniversary celebration, we are really looking forward to our trip to Albuquerque, NM to visit Patti's son and it just so happens to coincide with the world famous, Balloon Fiesta, a gathering of over 700 hot air balloons from all over the world.

We will start our trip on 10/10, driving to Buffalo to catch our 10:30 AM, Southwest flight, arriving in ABQ at around 4:00 PM.

Upon arrival, Patti's son Chris is meeting us at the airport and after all the it's off to dinner and pick up our rental car.

Thursday, 10/11 is Patti's birthday and I'm sure we will celebrate this in style. Chris has some secret plans for the family.

Friday, 10/12 Nothing planned on this day that I know of.

Saturday, 10/13 Up early (4:00 AM) and go to watch all the balloons lift off for the morning. Lots of pictures coming from this day, I think.

We have a very special evening planned with Sarah (MMouse6937) and her DH, Mike. We have planned on getting together for a couple of since April and we are looking forward to meeting another member of Intercot.

Sunday, 10/14 more balloons and pictures.

Monday, 10/15. Patti and I are heading north for a full day at Sante Fe and exploring all the wonderful Art Galleries, buying the jewelery handmade by the Native American Indians, and maybe even purchasing some art pieces for our home.

Tuesday, 10/16 Nothing planned as of yet.

Wednesday, 10/17 Departure day. We will be at ABQ by 9:00 AM for our Southwest Flight home, arriving in Buffalo around 8:00 PM.

10/18 & 10/19. We both took off work to recuperate from the travel.

There you have it. If you have any suggestions about what to do on the off days, please make a note of it.

Pogo, it sounds wonderful! I LOVE the Native American jewelry, art and pottery - and can spend hours looking at it!
The balloon festival should be great!

I am looking forward to all the pictures. Are you guys going to try to get up for a balloon ride? DW and I did it once, it was a pretty cool experience. something I'll never forget.

You are going to be blown away at the Balloon Fiesta, it's one of the best things about living here (there has to be something positive about living so far away from WDW )

Santa Fe is beautiful, you'll have a great time there. Lots of things to see in the plaza.

Well dang, wish I could have driven over to see you but we are 4 1/2 hours away near the Texas border. I have yet to see the balloon festival. I saw the trip reports and I am happy that you got to see so much of our state capital

Tee Dee..... I wish we had met. Had you posted before we left for New Mexico, I would have insisted you come to ABQ or we would have come to you. I've always admired your post's and I would have loved to meet you. Next time for sure !

Unfortunately, I almost never check this part of the board -- but I saw the balloon reference on the main Intercot page and figured it had to be here. Oh well !!

Hey Pogo! I just found this, what a wonderful trip this has been for you guys!!!!!!! I want to go West one of these days! I'm glad you both had such a wonderful time and we dw's have to keep you guys on track afterall, so that's why she makes suggestions, but I know you're smart enough to just nod nicely and smile

I get to meet Jym and Rachel this week so would love to know where to get some last minute possum if you have any suggestions!
