Default How much time in your room?

We see so many threads about what level of resort is best or whether or not to upgrade, but I am wondering how much time do people actually spend in their rooms on a day to day basis? Certainly you are paying for the ambience, but most of us are just sleeping and showering there.

So besides sleeping and prep time, how much time do you typically spend in your rooms each day?

I had to vote for 1 - 3 hours only because my DW takes longer than an hour to get ready in the morning. We rarely return to the room except maybe to change for dinner.

I voted 1-3 hours too.... I also take a while to get ready. I also agree with coming back maybe once to get ready for a meal or change clothes as weather permits.

We don't spend much time in the rooms at all. Most is spent at night unwinding before bed but it usually after we closed a park. That is the exception being the last day because we always spend that lounging by the pool. We always do value because we know we are not going to be in the rooms long enough to enjoy the moderate or deluxe hotels.

less than a hour for us, there are some nights that we sit and watch stacey before we go night night, but for the most part we dont spend a lot of time in the room, usualy by the time we make it to the room we are soooo ready to go to sleep and wake up the next day, there will be time for relaxing when we get home! lol

We do the 1-3 hours, and it is usually closer to the 1 hour mark, but once in a while, we head back to chill, especially if we are doing EMH.

we usually return to the room to change or take a quick nap. Other than that we were never in it except to sleep at night. I think one reason to stay at a moderate or deluxe is because of the buses. The All Star bus line can be quite packed at park closing. Where as if you are staying at the deluxes hotels you jump on the monorail and go home.

First time at POP Century we spent almost no time in the rooms. We closed every park and hopped to the one that was open (EMH) latest each night. This time we will be staying at POR. We'll see if this changes, but I'll have three with me ages 14, 9, 9 so they'll probably run Dad into the ground.

I voted for the 1-3 hrs...Its not like we spend alot of time in our room, but I like our resort to feel like a continuation of the parks..like when we come back to the Poly we can still see the castle, the lagoon, the tikis, the music, the fireworks,..we love that. I wouldn't want to come back to the resort and feel away from things.

    Greetings baldburke

For a lot of people a room is nothing more than a place to sleep, shower and shave. But for us its part of the Disney Experience and a great place to relax. I would say staying Deluxe is high on our list of priorities. Visiting the parks everyday is only a part of the Magic. Before we became members of DVC we would stay exclusively at the Polynesian Resort. Being an early riser, every morning I would head out to the Volcano Pool with my cup of Java and newspapers, then a walk around the resort. The grounds are peaceful but even more so in the morning. I would make it a point to stop and say hello to the CM’s that were out working and getting the resort ready for the day. Sometimes you could hear goings on over at the Magic Kingdom. Once the family was up and ready we would head out to the parks, in the late afternoon we usually headed back to the resort and the pool. Kay and I would find a table close to the Barefoot Bar and spend some time sipping on Margaritas while the girls would spend there time either on the Beach playing in the sand or riding down the water slide at the Volcano Pool. Later in the evening we would walk down to the beach for the Boat parade and watch the fireworks. In the middle of our stay we sometimes just hang out at the pool for the entire day. I would get there early to stake out are spot in the shade and the girls would join me after a couple of hours.
I could also mention the other amenities that the Poly has is Location to the MK. The Monorail is just footsteps from your room. Hula lesions, Sea Racers, Surrey Bikes Ohanas, The Kona Café, Captain Cooks . The Polynesian dinner show. Character Breakfasts, and much much more.

In the room, not sleeping or getting ready.....way less than an hour......we are rarely in the room just hanging out....really what is there to do in a room....watch tv...we can do that at home......while at Disney, we want to enjoy Disney, not the room.....

I voted 1 to 3 hours, but it is closer to 1 hour (if that). Last year, we did go back to our rooms one day and went swimming and one day we tried to get the girls to take a nap (MNSSHP that night). But most days, we just go from the time the girls wake up, until park closing.

We struggle with what resort to stay in, but the what if's have made our decision. What if we needed to stay in the rooms for a longer time? Which one would we want to be at.

This year, we are not going to go to the park the first day we get there, so we will most likely explore the resort a little more.

The most time we spend in the room is after park closing. Since we are 4 in the room we split the showers w/ 1/2 doing it at night. We also have to download pics to the laptop and charge batteries for the next day. In the a.m. we are ready to go again.
We stayed @ BWV and still didn't spend anymore time in the room. There is just too much to do...
This year may be different since we are taking a day off.

I voted 3 - 6 hours but it's probably more like 3 in the room and maybe 6-7 at the resort.

We are DVC so we generally have a leisurely breakfast, head out to a park for a couple of hours, come back and hang out by the pool for a bit. Unwind in the room getting ready for dinner, go for dinner and then have drinks somewhere or maybe go back to a park then head back to the resort.

The only time we spend in our rooms is the time it takes to get ready for the day and the time it takes everyone to get showers when the day is done. We might come back for a short afternoon nap and/or dip in the pool during the summer months. Other than that we are in the parks.

When we first started going the answer would have been about 1hr. But now its considerably more since we don't feel the need to see everything every year. We usually come back mid to late afternoon to sit out and watch the happenings.

With a Seven Seas Lagoon view there's always lots of action. You can watch the Sea raycers running around, ferry going back and forth, resort launch, monorail circling the lagoon, and the wedding of the day at the Poly. Now with the shows around the castle you can hear the show going on and watch the short daytime fireworks as well. Its terrifically relaxing. Oh, yeah, and a snack and drink from the concierge lounge sitting up there on the balcony is heaven.

Ah, in 14 days it all happens.

Besides sleeping and getting washed/dressed, I spend usually less than an hour in the resort room. However, I'm one of those people that enjoy spending time at the resort. Drinking coffee and reading by the pool, relaxing in the hotel lobby while enjoying the atmosphere and people watching, and just strolling on the beach. For these reasons, I really perfer to stay at the deluxe resorts and for me is worth the extra $$.

I really enjoy the resorts as part of my WDW vacation. I can't imagine just using the room as a place to sleep and shower and hardly spending any time at the resort. The resort is part of the whole vacation experience, which is why we prefer deluxes.
