We were warned last year of a gator near Pop Century. There are a couple little water areas across the road from the resort entrance and were told that they have been spotted there.

While on the patio at flame tree BBQ in AK my son threw a french fry in the water. I yelled at him not to do that but he said it was cool to see the fish go after it. He tossed another one and I stated a little more strongly not to throw food at the fish when I noticed it was a really big fish with a toothy smile that was moving around. It was actually a 3-4 foot Crockagator (what my DS calls alligators)! Our first time seeing a crock at DW.

In Dec. I will have to watch out for this. I never heard of gators being in WDW. This next trip I plan on going slow and taking in the sights.

We've seen a gator in the Rivers of America each of the last 3 years. Not big, about 3-4 ft. but I still wouldn't want to get near it. Last October there were two in there.

That might explain the shortage of ducks in the water nowadays.

Just dont lose your head when ya see a gator, and please dont try to pet them.

    Red face

    Wow!!

I think I'll be a lot more careful about keeping my hands inside the water rides from now on...

I must say once or twice I've dipped my hand in the water on Splash Mountain etc....

    Now I'll know better!!

Well, considering Disney was built in the middle of a swampland.....gators seem perfectly at home here. I guess being a native Floridian makes me less in awe of gators anywhere where there is water in Florida. Disney isn't an exception...

As previously stated, please....don't feed or try to pet them. We don't actually own them, so we don't control feed them and they aren't safe. It's not the Jungle Cruise after all, (although some of those might not be animatronic either...)

I can believe it. We used to have 6 to 8 footers show up in our neighborhood, we lived across the interstate from a big lake. I just took the kids over there in June (they have a bridge walkway with an observation tower and there was a mama gator below us, luckily separated by a strong deck on the tower, with about three babies near her and they were around 3 to 4 feet long). They showed up at my elementary school, too. I'm sure others who grew up there have some stories too. I am very reverent towards these animals. This is another reason I hate when people feed animals like Jessica said, it just makes them less afraid to come around.

Considering how much of Disney propert is still swamp & wilderness, I was always suprised there weren't MORE alligator sightings!

When I used to work in Frontierland in the early 80s, it was not uncommon to see small gators swimming around the Rivers of America, particularly in the mornings before the boats started up. For quite some time there was a 6-footer living in one of the teepees at the Indian Village!

    Ah, memories...

We just got back yesterday and last week BTMR went down while we were going up the hill. Right before we got on there was a lady complaining to the CM's very very loudly that she left her DIOR sunglasses on one of the trains. She was making a fool of herself yelling. The ride was held up as 3 CM's tried to calm her down. They told her to stand on the side and they would check the trains as they came in, they explained they needed to start the ride again. Off we went only to be haulted at in the middle of the hill. Everyone was joking that they must have found this lady's sunglasses. Although now after awhile a CM announced someone would be with us shortly. This was the first time we have ever heard that announcement and wondered if we would be getting off and walking back. My son started to get excited, go figure. Well, shortly after 2 CM's appeared and asked if anyone needed assistance getting off, thankfully no one did, I am not sure how they would have gotten a wheelchair up the steps? It was pretty cool walking off and through the underbelly of the ride. It was funny almost everyone was teasing about that lady forcing the ride to shut down just so she could get her designer sunglasses. The CM's only told us it was technical. I wonder??

Was there yesterday for the day and BTMR had signs out saying it was closed for refurb.

Thats always my luck, even with a pass, I rarely ever get to ride BTMR as it always seems to be closed.

    Exclamation That's wild

Residents in the posh Miami Coral Gables neighborhood had a grusome wake-up call last month. It seems a Gator that has hung around the area so long they considered him a mascot , killed a pet dog. To make things worse, the gator carried the K9 around in his mouth for several days before consuming it.

When I get home today I will have to dig out the pics I took in Oct 2005 of a 5-6 ft gator chilling in the Rivers of America when we were standing on that "boardwalk" across from the Country Bears Jamboree.

Everytime we go back now, my daughter steers clear of riding the boat over to Tom Sawyer Island. Lol
