Default Preview of 2007 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade will be Different This Year

    By Kristin Ford

    7/19/2007

Tickets went on sale in May for the popular Magic Kingdom event, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. But recently I noticed on the passholder Web site that one of the old standbys is going to be different this year.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade apparently is being replaced with Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade. Are everyone's favorite toy soldiers going AWOL? And what about the roller-skating snowflakes and the dancing reindeer? Say it isn't so!

    ...

For my family, viewing it has become an annual tradition. What would be fantastic is if our friends at Disney have decided to add this parade to the night's lineup and not use it as a substitute. I'm sure that two distinct Christmas parades would be a gift to many Disney fans.

The passholder site also lists a new castle light show for the upcoming season. Cinderella Castle will be adorned with thousands of shimmering white lights that will be turned on during a nightly ceremony with Cinderella, Mickey, Minnie and the gang.

Other mainstays, such as the "Holiday Wishes" fireworks, "Celebrate the Season" castle stage show, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" stage show in Tomorrowland, characters dressed in their Christmas finery, snow on Main Street, and cookies and cocoa apparently will remain part of the party.

    Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will be from 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30 and Dec. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21. Tickets at the gate cost $51.07 for ages 10 and older and $43.62 for ages 3-9. The advance purchase prices for select nights are $43.62 for adults and $36.16 for children. To purchase tickets, call 407-W-DISNEY.

Why do they always have to go and change everything? I never got to see the old parade, the only park I've been to during the Christmas holiday season is Disneyland and it will be a couple years before we can get to WDW for Christmas. Hopefully they'll work out all the kinks by then?

I can't wait to see the castle! I'm sure it will look amazing. I read on Intercot that it should be completed by November 15th.

I hope the wooden soldiers are still in the parade. They're my favorite! Oh well, if not, at least we got to see them last year.

We will be attending our 1st MVMCP on Nov 16. I hope to see the traditional toy soldiers but know it will all be fun and festive! The lights on the castle sound cool and Osbourne-lightish! Why not? Spread the lights? More is more right? Its gonna be great either way!

It will be our first MVMCP. We will be there Nov 27th. We have been at Christmas before but have missed MVMCP by one or two days in years past.
