Yes....we were broken down one Pirates on night a few years ago. What an experience that was. We were going just about to go under a bridge with the guy dangling his feet over and the pigs off to the side. The ride stopped and they had the usual announcement...then 5 mins passed, 10 mins passed...and so on until an hour later we are still on the ride with the lights on...MUSIC STILL GOING...and there are CM's out in the water with wading pants pushing boats to places in the ride we could exit. We were the very last boat to get out of there. We had to climb 2 flights of stairs and came out 'behind the scenes' somewhere near the parking lot in the front. We were escorted by security to where we had to go, past a CM break area, up some more steps and out a door that let out near the bathroom in NOS next to the train station. They gave us a pass that would let us to the front of the line of any ride we wanted but it was already the end of the night and after that, we were done. LOL To this day my daughter still doesn't like going on Pirates because she thinks we are gonna get stuck.

    Most recently for me . . .

Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin (Disneyland) -
We were about half way through. Didn't wait long before CMs came through and escorted us off in groups. Since that is a dark, semi-fast, spinning ride it was interesting to view it at walking speed and with the lights on. Noticed lots of little things I probably would never have noticed otherwise.

    Grizzly River Run (DCA) -
We were just approaching the first drop, at night, when the ride came to a stop. Being wedged between two ride vehicles, ours tipped enough to bring tons of water gushing in and soaked our legs up to our knees. I don't remember how long we had to wait, but it was long enough for them to drain the river before walking us down the mountain. That was the day I learned to bring at least two pairs of shoes to DLR - even if only staying for two days/one night.

We've had to walk off Alice in Wonderland (very cool - got to walk through the parts with the cards and come out backstage). We've also had to get off Casey Junior and walk backstage behind Never Never Land (because they "never never take you there") to see where the extra Storybookland Canal boats are docked.

No, but we started to wonder if we were bad luck when we were getting to rides because of the number that were closed when we were going to them (or even near them). Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain had just closed for maintenance when we were trying to get in line. Indiana Jones broke down when we were almost to the front of the line. Pirates broke down while we were eating in Blue Bayou, and MuppetVision was closed when we spent the full day in DCA (it was open the next day thankfully).

We never get stuck on a ride. What always happens is we get to the front of the line then it breaks down. There was one time when we were in line for Space Mountain. When we got to the space ship thing they had to evacuate the ride because some people got stuck on it.

Is it interesting getting stuck on a ride?

Surprisingly in the amount of times i have been to Disneyland, i've been thankful as to not have any ride break down on me to the point where we have to get off. For some reason, HM always gets stopped mid ride for a few minutes sometimes and almost every time i have ridden Buzz, it has stopped and we come out with a whopping score
Indiana has broken down a couple times while i was in line but we waited it out.

I think the reason that Haunted Mansion and Buzz stop in the middle of the ride is to let people on who are in wheelchairs. I guess thats somewhat getting stuck on a ride.

We got stuck on the Winnie the Pooh ride and had to get escorted out. Let's just say it's not as magical with the lights on!

We got stuck on Small World. I forget what was wrong, but the back-up of boats was so bad that our boat got sandwiched, literally. We even started taking on water, and I'm not joking or exaggerating. We didn't move for 35 minutes and then we slowly crept through the ride, getting stuck a second time for about 5 minutes. We joked with the other riders (strangers) that we'd need serious therapy.

That's so funny, I wonder if we were on it at the same time?! It was about six years ago, we were stuck right before the last uphill climb...music stopped, lights turned on, but everything was still moving. Totally weird. We were offloaded from the boat, taken up a couple flights of stairs, through a break area, and through the backlot. It was cool and weird at the same time. We also received some voucher and we were already done for the night! The experience changed the magic for me, but it did not change my love of the ride. I'm so glad I don't have kids!

It seems that when your in line for a ride and you are looking forwards to it, it breaks down.

Sometimes the water level gets too low and
a boat will bottom out and the boats behind
that one get backed up as well.

That's when someone appears out of nowhere
and pulls the boat a little ways with a pole
with a hook on the end.
Tonight, the part of Al will be played by a tall, dark and sinister ugly man.

Really disappoints when you're lead off the ride and see some of the effects...

Yeah I bet. Like I know someone who was on Space Mountain and it broke down, so they had to turn on the lights to get them off.

We were on the Great Movie Ride at MGM in May 2006 when it broke down. We were stuck in the Wizard of Oz scene for about 20 minutes. The CM did her best to make small talk but pretty much ran out of stuff to say after about 10 minutes. She asked people for questions/comments. It was my DS's 9th birthday that day, so the whole group of about 25 people or so on the ride sang "Happy Birthday" to him while we waited for the head CM's to come and rescue us out of the ride. We were the lucky group, the people behind us were stuck in the "Alien" scene that whole time. We were each escorted out of the ride vehicle and got to walk out of the ride thru the "back" of the ride. It kinda turned into a neat & memorable experience.
