My brother has had a pacemaker since he was four years old. When Alien Encounter first opened, the board outside it noted that people with pacemakers were not allowed to ride due to the effect of the magnetic fields in the ride.
Since they did an update on the ride, the sign no longer says this. I didn't think much of the attraction had changed much since the update a few years ago.
Any imagineers (or anybody) with an answer?
On a lighter note, I am a grown woman fairly afraid of the dark, so I don't particularly care for Alien Encounter. He and I call it the "Wuss Club" and generally go on TTA (formerly WEDway)while the rest of the family is on AE. The funny part being that TTA is guided by magnets, to my understanding.

it is. There are tesla coils on the in one of the chambers of the attraction that can affect a pacemaker. If you want to go on AE, just let the CM know, and they'll be sure to place you in the good chamber

Humor me please... what's a tesla coil? why would it be in one chamber and not another? How does it affect pacemakers? If it does affect them, why would they take the sign down?

The tesla coil was in both chambers for and effect.. it generates the sparks of electricity during the transport. However, once disney discovered it can affect a pacemaker, they disabled it in one chamber so guests with pacemakers could go on the attraction.

when were they removed? I picked up a shift there this past april in they were going off like crazy in chamber A
