When
we first went to Disney as a child in 1974, we knew where we wanted to stay.
The Contemporary Resort today still commands quite a presence.
Modularly constructed, it towers above the nearby Magic Kingdom and inspires
the forward thinking vision of Walt Disney. The giant 15 story A-frame
centerpiece of the hotel complex has the monorail system buzzing through
just above the 4th level concourse. Take a step back and soak in all there
is to see in it's majestic lobby. The resort features 656 rooms, six shops,
two snack bars, a marina, beach, large pool and much more. Don't miss dining
on the 15th floor California Grill where you can have a spectacular view of
the fireworks right from your table!
The Contemporary Resort's location cannot be beat. A path connects it to the
Magic Kingdom, which is a short 5-10 minute walk away. The monorail will
whisk guests to the Magic Kingdom in under 10 minutes, and the station is
located right inside the resort. The monorail also stops at the Ticket and
Transportation Center, where guests may change trains and head to Epcot.
The resort has managed to stay "contemporary" over the years due to numerous
refurbishments of the public spaces and rooms. Currently, the lobby and
rooms exude a sleek, sophisticated, somewhat minimalistic vibe. Rooms here
are among the largest on Disney property and rooms in the Tower boast
stunning views of either Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom. Located on the shore
of Bay Lake, the resort is peaceful but exciting. Numerous recreational
activities await. The Contemporary is an iconic Disney World resort that
still impresses guests over 40 years after it opened.
Accommodations:
There are two main room locations at the Contemporary. Rooms in the Garden
Wing are located outside the main tower, in a 3 story building near the
pool, close to Bay Lake. These rooms are priced lower than those in the
tower. Tower rooms can have views of either Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom.
Theme Park view rooms are, naturally, more expensive, but the view cannot be
beat! All rooms have daybeds.
What can I
expect to pay for a room?
Room rates range from $356-$757 for regular rooms. Club Level rooms
range from $681-$1042 per night. Rates vary based on season. Rates are
higher on weekends and holidays.
