What’s happening in and around Walt Disney World? Well you’ve come to the right place, with information on the holiday season, which is coming up fast, a new sponsor for Spaceship Earth and the new Disney movie "The Chronicles of Narnia".

Let’s hear what INTERCOTee’s have to say about these upcoming events.

Walt Disney World Kicks Off The Holiday Season Early
Starting November 14, two weeks earlier than in 2004, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights will sparkle with holiday cheer, and the Hollywood Holly-Day Parade kicks off at Disney-MGM Studios. Also starting the same day over at Animal Kingdom is "Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade". Later in the month, returning favorites like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, Candlelight Processional and Holidays Around the World at Epcot, plus other holiday traditions, make their 2005 debut.

"We will be there during the holiday season. We have been so many times but never at Christmas so we are so excited that we are going this December." - Darbylew
"This is my favorite time to go. I am so excited. It will be my Grand Daughters and 4 year old neices first trip. I can not wait to see there expressions!" – MICROMINNIE

Siemens & Disney Form Long-Term Alliance
The Walt Disney Co. and Siemens AG have signed a 12-year agreement that will allow the electronics and engineering company to expand its existing relationship with several areas of Disney, including the branding of some Walt Disney World attractions.
"I think the bigger story here is about the actual partnership between these two companies. Siemens is a HUMUNGOUS company, and is a world leader in the information age." - Colson39
"I hope they keep building on the agreement to bring back a "global neighborhood" to enjoy after my trip through time on SSE!" - Jace Heiden

Across the Boards with Figment! >>

Welcome back to another installment of Across the Boards. Last time we looked at how to perform quick searches to find threads on the new boards, this week let's dive a little deeper into this topic and look at how to perform advanced searches. So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls hope you have on your diving gear cause here we go …

As was mentioned in the last installment The “search” button is in the top toolbar at the top of every discussion board page and the “search this forum” button is at the top of the forum section on every main forum page. Clicking on both these buttons will produce a drop down form for you to enter your key words in for a quick search, however; if you want to try to find posts by a specific guest or other special details you will need to perform an Advanced Search. To do this rather than inputting your text into the space on the drop down form, click on the link at the bottom of the form that reads “Advanced Search”.

This link will take you to the advanced search wizard which looks like a form split into 7 sections; these sections are Search by Keyword, Search by User Name, Find threads with, Find posts from, Sort Results by, Show results as, and Search in Forum(s). Let’s take a look the most commonly used sections and learn more about them.

Search by Keyword
The Search by Keyword section by itself is basically a quick search. The one advantage this section offers over a quick search is the ability to control where the keyword is looked for. To use this section, first insert the keyword(s) you would like to search for into the box marked “Keyword(s)”. Then below this box there is a drop down menu with the options of “Search Entire Posts” or “Search Titles Only”. Selecting “Search Titles Only” will search for the keyword(s) you have entered only in the titles of all threads. Selecting ‘”Search Entire Posts” will search for the keyword(s) you have selected in both the title and the body of all posts. Search only in the title is a helpful way of narrowing down a search when you know the title or part of the title of a thread and are just trying to find it again.

Search by Username
The Search by User Name section is a good way to find old posts you may have made. . To use this section, first insert the user name you would like to search for into the box marked “User Name:”. Then below this box there is a drop down menu with the options of “Find Posts by User” or “Find Threads Started by User”. Selecting “Find Posts by User” will find all posts made by a specific user. Selecting “Find Threads Started by User” will find all threads started by a specific user.

Search in Forums
The Search in Forms section is a good way to search multiple forums at once. To search a group of related forums click on the group name in the scrolling list; group names are shown with a light gray background, individual forums are shown with a white background. To search unrelated forums hold down the “Ctrl” key on your key board and first click on “Search on All Open Forums” to un-highlight it, then click on each individual forum you would like to search.

Putting it all Together
Okay, so let’s say I was trying to find several old posts I had made about Mission: Space. I only want to find posts I made, and I know that these posts are only in the News & Rumors and Theme Parks forums. To find these threads I would perform an Advance Search by entering “Mission: Space” into the box marked Keyword(s), then I would enter “Figment!” into the box marked User Name, then I would hold down my Ctrl and click on Search All Open Forums in the Search Forms list to un-highlight it, then (still holding down the Ctrl key) I would then click on the Theme Parks and News, Rumors and Imagineering forums highlighting them in blue, and finally I would click “Search Now” button at the bottom of the page. I would then get back all the posts I made in the Theme Parks and News forums containing the phrase Mission: Space somewhere in the post.

Until next time, happy browsing around the boards and see ya real soon!

Halloween has come and gone – does anybody still have any candy left? We had a lot of Halloween talk in the Water Cooler in October. Jeremy wanted to know what Halloween costumes you were planning to wear, Disneygirl2290 wanted to know how you carved your pumpkin, and mamacon67 was “ghosted” along with a whole bunch of INTERCOTees! Be on the lookout in November for the INTERCOT Pilgrim!

October is not only known for Halloween. Did you know that it’s also National Chili Month, National Book Month, Go Hog Wild – Eat Country Ham Month and National Popcorn Poppin’ Month? We also celebrated Carry a Tune Week, National Cookie Week and Squirrel Appreciation Week. Daily observances included Toot Your Flute Day, Evaluate Your Life Day, Cartoonists Against Crime Day, and Cranky Co-Worker’s Day. Thank you Lizzy for providing us with these celebrations each month!

Jamie’s Friday parties for October included the Virtual Happiest Gathering on INTERCOT, the Boss Bazaar, INTERCOT’s Wonderful World of Color, and the Official INTERCOT Halloween Party! Stop in the Water Cooler this Friday and see what Jamie and Nigel have in store for us!

Are you superstitious? Advnt05 got the idea while watching the Darling family on “The Andy Griffith Show”, to ask INTERCOTees if any of us have any superstitions. A couple of Advnt05’s are don’t walk under a ladder and don’t let a pole come between someone you’re walking alongside. Boojum won’t tape a football game for fear that her team will lose! Munch has to “knock wood” to avoid jinxing something, and conorsmom2000 has to always put her right sock, right shoe etc on first. Let’s all be careful out there – you don’t want to jinx yourself!

Congratulations to disney323 on the birth of her son on October 16th and to Grumpy’s Daughter on the birth of Adam Nicholas on October 27th. Best wishes to both of you!

What’s your favorite smell? Turkey Leg polled INTERCOTees and got some really interesting responses. mrsgarbaldi likes the smell of baby powder, fresh cut grass, and rubbing alcohol. Five all-the-way likes the fragrance of freshly roasted coffee beans. Mscholl13 likes lilacs, new car smell, clean cotton, fall nights and BBQ. Great topic, Turkey Leg!

Congratulations to our members who reached posting milestones in October! Melanears – 24,000 posts, Jeff – 12,000 posts, MauiMouse – 12,000 posts, pdrlkr - 5,000 posts, Iago – 3,000 posts, cinderella crazy – 1,000 posts, MissOrlando98 – 1,000 posts, TammiMcMan – 1,000 posts, JennyAnne – 1,000 posts, QTPie68 – 1,000 posts, PirateCutie05 – 1,000 posts, Mickey052501 – 1,000 posts, amorillo – 600 posts, Sticky Mickey – Senior Cast Member, TheDuckRocks – Senior Cast Member, T-Belle –Senior Cast Member, BethanyMouse – Senior Cast Member, and FLDisneyguy29 – 100 posts. Great job, everybody!

That about wraps it up for October. See you next month!
