The information on this site may not be reproduced in any form including on the Internet without express permission from the EDC. Millennium Village is a world without borders housing about 20 nations never before seen at Epcot. These interactive exhibits which showcase each nations' gifts to the world are spaced out along a red path covered in red, green, orange, and yellow ribbons kind of like Innoventions' Road to Tomorrow. Approaching from either Canada or the United Kingdom pavilions, the usual red cement walkway is interrupted with a design of a globe not too much unlike the "o" in the current Epcot logo. A turn down the tan pathway leads to the tent-like structure that is Millennium Village. Along the walkway, a rhythmic instrumental version of "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand," the theme song to the Millennium Celebration, is heard. Lampposts with blue and yellow signs line both sides of the path. The blue half sports the World Showcase logo while the yellow half lists the countries and participants for the pavilion from the United Nations at the top of the banner to Peru at the bottom. At the end of the path is another globe etched in the cement. Rising in the middle is a large Millennium Village sign standing on two sprawling legs that look like more ribbons. The word Millennium is on a yellow ribbon above the large letters making up the word Village. Each letter is covered with small silver eye-catchers that wave in the wind like those used on the 2000 sign that looms over Spaceship Earth. Palm trees stand to both sides of the sign. The façade of the pavilion is covered with varying shades of blue with a 2000 logo pattern repeated from side to side. Red, orange, and green ribbons swirl across the facade reading "Gifts to the World." A free-standing sign outside the entrance tells when performances will be held in the World ShowPlace theater. Entering through the open doors in the center of the façade, we encounter a large globe of the Earth sitting in a giant box. Surrounding the globe are yellow, green, maroon, and red rings that read "Epcot and friends / from around the globe / are proud to present / Gifts to the World." Other treasures such as the Pyramids, the Statue of Liberty, musical instruments, chess pieces, a compass, Chinese dragon head, an umbrella, etc. surround the box. Numerous terminals allow guests to play the World Bank's Millennium Challenge or explore the history of the fork, croissant, ice cream, and more from The History Channel's Time Lab 2000. To both sides of this centerpiece are four stages each separated by a column with a clear globe perched on top. Each stage features the country's name at the top with "Gifts to the World" written underneath. Below this banner is a large gift box with the country's flag (or some other design) making up its façade. The center of the box has a rotating screen that lists the gift that country conveys. The left side features the following countries with their gift as seen on their screen listed in parenthesis: New Zealand (The Gift of Hope), South Africa (The Gift of Communication), India (The Gift of Health), and Namibia (The Gift of Conservation). The right side features: Ethiopia (The Gift of Abundance), Indonesia (The Gift of Light), Kenya (The Gift of Cooperation), and Israel (The Gift of Peace). A sign located near the entrance to the rest of the pavilion shows a map of where each of these eight countries are located. It also explains that the eight gifts highlighted are examples of the numerous Expo 2000 Projects from Around the World showcased at Hannover, Germany's Expo 2000. These gifts displayed on the screens are representative of projects from their respective countries. Ambassadors from each country are available to talk about their country and the projects highlighted. Every ten or fifteen minutes, the pavilion's pre-show begins. It features an introduction made by natives of the countries represented in this room. Threshold to the Future Show Female Announcer: Welcome to Millennium Village. To help us celebrate this moment in time, we've invited our friends from around the globe to join us. They have come to share with you stories of their accomplishments and dreams. These are their gifts to the world. Please join them now as we begin our celebration. A musical introduction to the tune of "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand" follows while colored spotlights scan the room. The music changes for each country. The rotating screens on each of the four boxes on both sides now read "Gifts to the World." When the country is introduced, its screen will change to say the name of the country and show illustrations from that country. White spotlights scan to the country's box when its name is announced. Female Announcer: Ethiopia Ethiopia Ambassador: [Ethiopian greeting] We are here to celebrate the traditions of every nation. It is from tradition that we are building the rich tapestry of world cultures. These gifts are our legacy. Female Announcer: India India Ambassador: Namaste. [Indian greeting] We celebrate our differences. And as we share different cultures, we learn to respect the richness that diversity adds to the world. These gifts enrich us. Female Announcer: Kenya Kenya Ambassador: Jambo, [Kenyan greeting]. We celebrate the children of the world. Their laughter is the music of life. Their gifts bring us joy. Female Announcer: New Zealand. New Zealand Ambassador: [Kiaro. New Zealand greeting.] We celebrate the explorers. These brave men and women who have courageously sought to expand our horizons and our knowledge. Their gifts challenge us. Female Announcer: Indonesia Indonesia Ambassador: [Indonesian greeting] We celebrate the artists of the world. [?With their great imagination and knowledge,?] they add beauty and mystery to our lives. Their gifts inspire us. Female Announcer: South Africa South Africa Ambassador: [South African greeting] We celebrate the thinkers, the men and women who have shared their ideas to shape nations, philosophies, and beliefs. Their gifts enlighten us. Female Announcer: Israel Israel Ambassador: [Israeli greeting] We celebrate those who preserve the past. Their efforts have built the foundation for the future. Their gifts guide us. Female Announcer: Namibia Namibia Ambassador: [Namibian greeting] We celebrate each of you, your dreams, your efforts, and your accomplishments will become our destiny. Please help us Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand. Ethiopia Ambassador: Celebrate! India Ambassador: Celebrate! Kenya Ambassador: Celebrate! New Zealand Ambassador: Celebrate! Indonesia Ambassador: Celebrate! South Africa Ambassador: Celebrate! Israel Ambassador: Celebrate! Namibia Ambassador: Celebrate the Future All: Hand in Hand! Female Announcer: We invite to cross the threshold to the future where you will discover many more gifts and meet new friends from around the globe. A short refrain from "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand" is sung while the Ambassadors greet guests and answer any questions. Chorus: Ahhh Put your hands On the future Share a dream together Around the world With a voice from every country A face from every land Celebrate the future hand in hand Celebrate the future hand in hand Celebrate the future hand .. in hand Oh, oh, oh, ohhhh Oh, oh, oh, ohh, ahh   Upon the conclusion of the show, images of timepieces are projected moving from the floor up to the curtains surrounding the entrance to the rest of the pavilion. Guests begin to follow the red ribbon path through the village to experience each of the exhibits within. Below is a map of the pavilion with a general layout of the exhibits.
