Disney Changed My Dining Ressie

I've never had this happen before and I'm wondering if any of you out there has had this happen to you and what the reason might be...

We had reservations at Sci-Fi Diner for a early lunch during a Star Wars Weekend. We made the reservations at our 180 mark. Yesterday, I received a voicemail message (it was a number I didn't recognize so I let it go to voicemail) saying that there had been a schedule change for the park and they moved our reservation to 2:30pm.

That's too late for our group to have lunch so we'll just eat at a counter service and use the Sci-Fi ressie for dessert and to get out of the heat....

But we were a bit annoyed with the forced schedule change.

Any thoughts?

I've never had that happen! I wonder what is going on? Hopefully it's a one off and doesn't become routine! I would call them at the (407)WDW-DINE number and question it!

We had an anniversary dinner scheduled at Cali Grill a few years ago. A couple of weeks before the date, they called and cancelled on us because of a "private event", leaving us scrambling to pick up a reservation elsewhere. Luckily, we were able to get in at Narcoossee's and had a fantastic meal there.

Never heard of that either.... usually they have all the special stuff set in stone before the 180 Day Mark..

This did happen to use this past December trip. We had ressies for Tea Party at The Grand Floridian for 2pm and we got that same phone call because of conflicts the ressie is now for 3pm. Wellll that so did not work for us and needed to cancel all together. We were very disappointed!! We currently have ressies for our upcoming trip in August.....to which we are not holding our "breath" !!!

I'd call and ask too! I wonder, since it is SWW if there is a private booking, or a special event that is booking up SciFi at the earlier lunch time?

Received the same call changing our Sci Fi time on Sat. 5/17 from 11:30 to 12:45. That will be too late for plans we've already committed to that afternoon.

Since this happened to you, too, at the same restaurant, I'm wondering if they use Sci-Fi for private parties?

Yup definitely sounds like a private group, probably Star Wars related.

Sorry that happened to you, but people have had entire disney cruises canceled due to private groups chartering ships!

Thanks to those of you who recommended that I call. I did. And I was told that Sci-Fi will not be serving lunch until 12noon, that their hours have changed. She said she was sorry our plans had to change and she tried to find us something earlier than 2:30pm. We were able to get a 1:20pm and I will just keep trying until we get something closer to noon.

The explanation of change of operation hours may be true OR it may be a private party and that's just their answer to us "little people." Either way, the CM was very helpful. So I'm glad I called.

Mystery solved!

I read on another Disney blog (and then here, when I logged on) that Disney is now offering a character breakfast at Sci-Fi diner during Star Wars Weekend "season."

Our reservation was at 11:00am. They called and switched it to 2:30pm. Our reservation fell within the "breakfast time." It would have been nice to have the option to keep our original time with the new menu/character options.

I agree that it would have been preferable for them to offer you the choice of keeping your time during their new breakfast or moving your time to stay within the lunch service.
