    Default Hogwart's Castle

Do you have to go on the ride to go inside Hogwart's Castle? I can't do motion simulators, so I hope not.

You can go right to the end and they have a room that parents wait...you walk through there, it's a great queue....one of the best.

You can also ask if they still allow the "castle tour"... Basically, you can walk the queue, see everything in there, and skip the ride... The queue is fantastic!!!

I agree. Walking through was very neat. It's a great ride!

It's a great ride, but it is not a "motion simulator". It could still give you motion sickness though.

As of last month they were still doing the castle "walk through" for those who wanted to tour the castle, but not do the ride.

Parts of it are what I'd consider a simulator.

I have done the ride, and still have no idea what was simulator and what was real! I've tried to describe it to people, but I cant, I didnt know what was happening, just that it was amazing!! I didnt think it was particularly scary, not like a coaster, just the most incredible ride experience. Do it if you possibly can.

My 60+ mother is not a huge fan of thrill rides or mega coasters, but LOVES Harry Potter, so I'm sure she will insist on trying the ride regardless, but what can I tell her about what to expect?

Also, in regards to the castle tour walk through, is there usually a wait to do that as well? And how congested does it get? I'm thinking soak it all in on the way to the ride the first time, then possible do the walk through later for a second look and pictures.

I am 60+ too and it was fine for me. You feel really secure and it is not at all jerky. I rode Space Mountain for what will be my last time this summer, as it is WAY too rough for me now, though I used to love it. But Harry Potter, as I said before, is marvellous, and I will do it again as soon as I can get back there.

Thanks! Mom never liked Space Mountain either. This makes me feel a lot better! The funny thing is, as much as she is not a coaster fan, she went on RnRC @ DHS and loved it - she says its because of the shoulder harness she feels snug. That must be the trick

It's not jerky? Wow, I think we have different ideas on what's jerky. I felt like that ride system jerks you all over the place! Some days I can handle it fine, but others it makes me terribly motion sick. It's definitely a ride like no other. If you've done The Sum of All Thrills at Epcot, it's that technology x 10 with the simulation thrown in. The simulation parts are flying with Harry on the broom, through the Castle, etc.

Exactly!! Very jerky, mostly in the sense that it moves/swings you so quickly from scene to scene and very intense. This ride did me in ... and it was the first ride of the day.

Right! It's jerks you in and out of scenes.

As for feeling secure, I always did. Now my shoes (flip flops), not so much. In fact, the second time I sat on them so I didn't have to worry about them flying off.

Agree, it's a very different experience. My daughter who can ride every ride in any park got deathly ill after riding...literally green. She has never been motion sickness on anything. So it affects different people different ways...very jerky moving one scene to the next...no drops, no upside down...a great ride...best ever...and I too sit on my flip flops so not to lose them...can't reach the basket under the seat in time to retrieve and put them on in time to exit the ride.

Get there first thing when the park opens (we get in line 30 minutes before the park opens) and go there first...you can get a couple of rides in before the crowds descend.

My daughter and I get terrible motion sickness. We took some Dramamine, which you can buy at any of the shops, and we were perfectly fine. Now what did bother me was the part with the spiders. I HATE them!
