Default Gen Question - Requesting Resort Areas?

Hi - we are planning a trip for later this year that will include an extended portion of the family: 8 ppl between 4 y.o. (first trip) to 68 y.o.

We are down to selecting either CBR or POP/AoA. We appreciate that CBR is expansive (at least 2 ppl do not favour long walking distances) and would want to be close to the main bldg and shops.

Alternatively, if we stay at POP/AoA, we are thinking we could ideally split our parties up and take 2 rooms in AoA/Mermaid and 2 rooms in POP/60s.

How do we go about requesting certain areas in these (or any other) resorts?

Also, would any of these areas constitute "Preferred" rooms? We would actually want to be, for example, "Lakeside" in the 60s rather than Front/Pool side. Ditto for Mermaid.

    Thanks in advance!

Use Magical Journeys and have them mark it on the reservation. The resort will do what they can, but no guarantee.

Exactly! For any room requests, it is best to mark them right on your reservation. We also restate them to the CM when we checkin, and we generally get what we wanted, or close to it. Disney does try and make you happy.

But, it sounds like you're still going to do a lot of walking, with part of the group in the LM rooms. (and these rooms are FAR from the main AoA building and pool). The group in POP, although close, is still a bit of a walk, if your group is concerned about walking. Not having the group together will add steps to the day too!

You could have everyone in POP, in preferred rooms, or book CBR in preferred rooms, so you're closer to the main action.

If you have any concerns about walking, I highly suggest you do not book the Little Mermaid rooms at AOA. My family stayed there in November and even though we have no problems with walking, we all hated it. It was so far away!

CBR is only far if you pick an island that is far. If you stay here and pay for a preferred section, you'll be nice and close. They also have an internal bus that goes around. It's a beautiful resort.

If you stay at Pop, stay in the 50's, 60's or 70's. The 80's and 90's are a lot further out. You may want to pay for a preferred room here if your trying to minimize the walking.
