We stayed there for the first time last September (we usually stay at WL) so I was a little skeptical. I thoroughly enjoyed this resort. It's a smaller resort so it was a short walk everywhere - pool, bus stop, food court. I'd definitely stay there again.

I really enjoyed POFQ. I'm sure many others will tell you how great the beignets are, and I agree!

My kids and I really enjoyed the pool and my sister and I really enjoyed the hot tub. Toasting the tootsies after a long day is heaven!

The boat ride to Downtown Disney is lovely. That's the way to travel!

The small size of the resort means that everything is in comfortable walking distance, including the one bus stop.

I'm sure that you'll have a great time!

I'm staying at POFQ for the first time as well in about a week - but I chose it because of all the great things people on these boards have said. So I can't say anything yet from personal experience, but I hope to have great things to say when I come back!!

Our stay started off bad but ended up great.

When we had got there they put us in building seven. Which wasn't a big deal I wanted a building by the foodcourt but seven isn't that far. When we got to our room and opened the door their was someones suitcases and a toy dog on the tv. So we had to drag all our luggage back down the stairs to our car and go back to the front desk.

It took them forever to figure out what happened. They kept going to the back and talking to different people. Finally they gave us a room in building two. Which was a much better location. It's right by the pool and very close to the food court.

After everything was fixed we had a really nice stay there and I would stay there again. I just hope next time it goes a lot smoother.

We stayed years ago when it was just Port Orleans. Our kids were 4, 7, and 10. (MIL accompanied us and had a connecting room, so one of the kids stayed with her). We all loved it!

DH and I are looking forward to staying there in September when we celebrate our 30th anniversary.

It's nice and small so everything is close by. The pool is great fun. And just down the Sassagoula River, at Riverside, you can rent pedal boats, rowboats, bikes and surrey bikes.

We stayed at POFQ a few years ago and loved it. If we go back in the fall (still undecided), we'll probably stay there because of the small size.

We stayed there last Sept and I loved it. It's small and intimate and easy to manuever around. My friend's Mom was in a wheelchair and it was very easy for them to get around especially after a long day at the parks.

Our cases of water that we had delivered by Staples was missing when we checked in and Lee in Bell Services spent an hour + looking for it and delivering it too us. And this was at 1130pm-1230am!

We absolutely fell in love with POFQ last May....so much that we are going back this May!! So peaceful and small....no building is a long walk to anywhere you want to go...we were in building 7 and it was still manageable even tho our DS10 is special needs.
We loved the pool and the hot tub was great! (first time our DS had ever been in a hot tub (I know, apparently we have deprived him) and he didnt want to get out! LOL!) Food court is not huge but was never crowded for us either.

Have fun!....and stay cool....July is really hot and humid in Orlando..

We have stayed there so many times. We often try other on site hotels, but end up back at POFQ on the next trip. I would request a room by the pool, as it will also get you close to the foodcourt/bus/shop, and front desk. Be sure to check out Elliot Dyson. He has been playing there at night for quite a few years. He does an amazing show that is totally kid friendly, yet appeals to all of us adults. He is the best, and still emails my family from time to time

...never stayed there, but been there many times ..... the grounds are beautiful, the pool is great, you can hop a boat to DtD for eating / shopping, the food court has the best thing ever, the beginets !!! You can go to the Riverside via boat or walk, and use their food court or Boatwrights eatery...IMHO, it's a great place to stay, we surely would but we're a fam of 5, so POR alligator bayou section is for us...I hope I've helped you some....

    Default You did good!

We stayed there this past October, and it was our third time. Our room was in building 5, which is convenient to everything. The pool, store, food court, hot tub, laundry room, and bus stop were all less than a minute's walk away.

The landscaping/designing of the resort is wonderful. It really does suggest the French Quarter in New Orleans with cobblestone streets, pastel-colored buildings, wrought-iron fences, and Dixieland Jazz playing. The streets have cute names like "Rue de Baga."

The pool is enormous and has a great slide! The kids will love it! Also, be sure to take a boat ride to Downtown Disney--the guys who run these boats are very kind and professional, and it's a relaxing 15-20 minute ride. We never miss it.

The food court food has some of the expected stuff: pizza, burgers, hot dogs, etc. You can also get really good cajun shrimp dishes, barbeque ribs, fried chicken, roast chicken, taco salads, and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. Don't forget to try beignets!

Thanks for all of the replies -- we have stayed at POR many times, but I am in the mood for something different. I am just nervous that we wont like it as well as POR. I don't want to get into trouble. Please keep the comments coming.

    Thanks

We stayed at the WL back in October, and for our next trip, will be staying at POFQ. It always gets great reviews and sounds like you won't be disapointed. I wish we could stay at WL again, but our budget says otherwise - but I"m quite excited about trying POFQ. I've picked that resort due to the great reviews, and I think it will fit our family really well. But I understand not wanting to second guess your decision....Disney is too BIG a trip to wish you had done something different. But hey - at least you have the opportunity to try something different!

We've stayed at both POR and POFQ, and liked POR well enough, but we LOVE FQ!

The size is one of the best things about FQ, but it is so much more than that. We love the theming (one of these days DH is going to make me go to the real New Orleans), DD loves the pool and the slide, the food court is good (it is smaller than POR, without the grab and go section though), but we've never found it too busy, and the food was always fresh.

The resort is so compact, but still is neat to wander around, you can walk along the river to POR, or take the boat to POR or DTD.

I'm sure you'll like it as much as we do!
