Default Post Hurricane Ike Fall Fun "Redo" Trip-Day 7

    Day 7-Magic Kingdom
Today was an all day Magic Kingdom day. We had spent some time here before, so it was more about just doing our favorites again. And eating at Casey’s Corner. I was really not feeling good this morning, but we got up and made it into the park at 10am! That was early for us. DH really wanted Casey’s Corner and it was still early, they don’t open until 11am, so we took a seat outside and just watched the streetmoshere. Promptly at 11, they opened the doors and DH went and got us some hotdogs and fries. I am with most people on this. The buns are not good anymore, they completely fall apart! I thought the size of the hot dog was fine though. And luckily… we got a chance to take a food survey later that day and I mentioned all the things we liked and didn’t like about the hot dogs.
After eating at Casey’s we went back down Main Street and got on the train. We rode it all the way around the park and then got off at Frontierland. DH wanted to ride Splash Mountain, and I did not. It was a 10 minute wait, so he got in line while I took a seat. I felt hot and tired and was feeling sickly that day. When DH came back out we decided to go to Tom Sawyer Island. I had not been on this island in a long time and DH never had. We took the VERY crowded raft over and wandered around. When you are feeling sick, this is probably not the attraction for you as it is somewhat active. What really got me was the barrel bridge. If I had been feeling 100%, then this would have been fun, but as it was, I was exhausted, and DH was on the fringe on getting the cold as well, so he was feeling a bit tired. Once we made our way off the island (which by the way everyone should go on, except when you feel sick) we had to go take a seat in the air conditioning, so we went to Pecos Bills. I still had a chocolate chip cookie pack from our early lunch at Casey’s Corner and I saw a lady who had ordered a orange juice, and I knew I needed that vitamin C to help me feel better so I asked DH to go and buy us some drinks. He came back with the juice and we probably spent about 20 minutes in Pecos Bills just recuperating from our high activity on the island.
After our rest time we walked through the restaurant over to Pirates. We rode it with no wait and this time DH took some pictures. At this point I can’t quite remember everything that we did. I am sure we went back to Haunted Mansion and shopped in the stores. I also remember seeing the 3pm parade. We ate some popcorn while we waited, which by the way really does taste better in WDW and had a nice seat in Liberty Square Area almost to Frontierland for the parade. This is not the best afternoon parade I have seen, but it’s also not bad, it’s just fun to watch to see some traditional characters. I also am pretty sure that we saw Philarmagic one last time. After a fun afternoon we left MK for awhile for our favorite meal of the trip.
Every time DH and I come to WDW and every time since 2002 I have been to Narcosseess. We just love this restaurant in The Grand Floridian on the water. This is the second trip that I didn’t book a reservation before and then just couldn’t bear to leave without eating here because we love it so much! We went ahead 2 days before and canceled our Kona dinner and Marrakesh lunch to eat here. I just hate using two credits, especially when the dining plan was free, but oh well. I wanted to get the most of our credits.
Our reservation was at 5:30, when they opened, and unlike Yak and Yeti, they do let you come in their unlocked door and check in before they officially open. It was the end of the afternoon and a cloudless blue sky, absolutely beautiful outside! I had a wonderful view of The Contemporary out one window and the Castle out the other. DH and I both got the lobster and steak and the almond cheesecake. WOW!! I just can’t recommend this enough. It is very pricy. The steak and lobster is a $60 plate and the desserts are over $10 apiece, but it is totally worth it. Our tip alone was $25, and when we are at home, that’s a traditional TGI Fridays meal (total price) so it is definitely expensive. Don’t think I could stomach a $175 meal for two people without the dining plan. However, you can get cheaper ($20-$35 plates) we just go for the best on the menu since we never eat that way at home.
After our fabulous dinner we took the boat across back to MK for the parade and fireworks. This was an amazing boat ride. The weather was great, not hot because it was the end of the day. The sky was blue and turning beautiful colors because the sun was setting. I was just so much in awe that I just want to bottle that feeling and let it out when I am feeling blue.
Back at MK we found a seat on Main Street. The sun set and the lights on Main Street came on. We sat right outside the candy shop, where they pump out that sweet, sweet smell. I have to say, that is my favorite place to sit now when waiting for a parade! Spectromagic came in all its glory and then we crowded into the street to see our 2nd and final showing of Wishes for this trip. It was as glorious as always and I left with a little tear in my eye… no more MK this trip.
We went back to the room to rest up for our final full day.

Yes! Narcoosees comes with a killer pricetag. The price for the 5 of us in August was close to $400.00!! Thank goodness for that dining plan. Thanks for sharing a terrific day.

So sorry your cold was getting to you this day! When you said you decided to go to Tom Sawyer Island, I wanted to shout - "No!!! Not when you're not feeling well!"

You ended with a lovely dinner!

The island is definitely NOT a place to be if you are hot and not feeling well! Thanks for sharing your great day.

What a wonderful ending to your day. I'm glad your dinner plans and the subsequent boat ride, parade & fireworks left you with a magical (even if just a little sad) feeling as you left. I can't believe tomorrow is your last day! But this trip surely is a completely different experience than the "original", right!
