Today, September 12, 2005, is the grand opening of the Hong Kong Disneyland resort. The 5th Disney vacation resort is located on 126 hectares (310 acres) near Penny's Bay on Lantau Island. The resort features the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park, the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel, Disney's Hollywood hotel, plus a number of recreational areas.

The Hong Kong Disneyland park features 4 themed lands and the center piece of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The park was designed a tribute to Walt Disney's original Disneyland with some unique details of its own.
