    Question

Does anyone know what the phone charges are for local calls. I'll be staying at the CBR and AS sports and am bringing my lap top to store my daily digital photos & videos and log onto the internet to make trip reports.

There is a .75 cent charge every time you dial out.

Make sure you ask them what is considered a "local" call. We were a little surprised on our last trip when we made a couple of calls and thought they were local and found out it was long distance! I would ask the CM at check-in what your provider number is considered.

I needed to bring my laptop last year and the year before. It is 75 cents per call. The year before we were at the Contemporary. I think they had 2 lines on the phones (I may be confusing this with some place else.) Anyway when there are 2 lines, I usually stay connected while I am there.
When I did get connected, don't know why, but my server disconnected me once, every time I tried to connect, so I was paying 2 times for each time I connected.
I'm sure that won't happen to you though.
    Good luck.

Ok, Polygirl.. I know I can be dense.. but I assume you mean everytime you dial even a 1-800 number right? My 4 year old will be calling grandma quite frequently and wonder if it would be better just to use cell phone?

We also used a phone card to make calls. Anytime you pick up the phone and call a number, it costs you 75 cents. The 800 numbers, calling card numbers, local numbers, etc.,
I sounds like the collect long distance is staggering!!!!

When you want to call anywhere on site, just dial zero on your phone and they will connect you. This includes Mears too, if you are using them. And airlines I believe.

I would use either your cellphone or get one of those prepaid calling cards and use a payphone. That way you could call even from the parks. Disney has their own phone company and while I can call Orlando and it's local, Disney is long distance for me but closer to my house. Go figure.

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free.

Every guest should take the few moments to read the little brochure on the night stand about about telephone charges. They can be quite high, but they aren't hidden from the guest. Also, if you are calling anyplace on Disney property and don't know the number, just dial the operator and ask to be connected to whatever you are trying to reach. There is no charge for this.
When we were on vacation, we found that if we had dialed our daughter in the College Program apartments it would have been a $.75 local call. Instead we asked the operator to connect us to extention # ___ and it was free.
