Doing Laundry?

Do all of the resorts have some type of Laundromat?

I hate the thought of spending some time doing laundry , but I don't want to pack clothes for 17 days (going to a condo from the 23rd-29th).

You will find that most of the laundry facilities are in close proximity to the pools. We usually pack about 4 days worth of clothes and do the laundry while relaxing in the pool at night. You would do well to bring your detergent and dry sheets with you as the machines are expensive. Someone suggested the detergent tablets because they are compact and spillproof. Haven't tried these yet but I'm sure we will this summer.

I was going to make the suggestion of the detergent tablets - and then I realized Steve just wrote that!

We brought them with us to our time share in Williamsburg this past December and they were great! We brought six packs or so (they come 2/pack) and just popped open the tabs and closed the washer. They work great and they are a little expensive. We thought it was worth the convenience to not lug a bottle of laundry soap on the plane. I have seen Tide and another couple brands too.

I have also seen dishwasher tabs for those who are staying in accomodations with a dishwasher.

Thanks for the suggestions on the tablets, I was going to bring my own detergent in a ziploc type baggie but those sound a lot easier.

Our experience w/ the machines at DL was that:
1) the washers are small so you'll probably need to wash more loads than you would at home &
2) the dryers do NOT dry very well so you'll need to a) put few clothes in a dryer at a time, b) put them through the cycle more than once, &/or c) dry as best you can then bring the damp clothes to your room to further air-dry.
I'm glad they have these facilities but I was disappointed in their quality.

Also, I put dryer sheets in plastic bags & used those while we were there. We took Autotrain down there so I also brought a half-empty jug of detergent that fit just fine in our car.

I always do my laundry at WDW and find it to be no big deal....

We return to the resort mid day for swimming, winding down etc, anyway....

I take the Tide tablets and my own dryer sheets...You can buy a box of (12 loads) Tide tablets for $3.49...WDW charges $1 per load for Tide!! ..The same goes for Downy!!..

I pack a garbage bag and place it in the closet in the room for a hamper...After 3 days it's full!!!.. ..I stuff it into my biggest pullman and drive it to the facility and back!!

This works out great....I did 7 loads of laundry on last weeks trip....4 mid week, 3 the day before departure....I find no crowds mid day and can use as many machines as needed....I either watch the news or read..You can even stroll about if you want to during mid cycle...

It's 30 minutes to wash, 35 to dry...WaLa!!..Clean clothes!!

One time we decided to go the whole 11 day trip without doing laundry, NOT WORTH IT! Lugging all that weight through the airport was a major pain! Now we take 4 days of clothes for the expected weather, and 2 days worth for the unexpected and do laundry there. It's so easy, like somone else said, it's usually right next to the pool so you can have a nice swim while you wait for it. But you say you are staying in a condo, you should call and check, a lot of them have washers and dryers in rooms!
I haven't yet tried the tablets, but I've had good luck by measuring my detergent out beforehand so I don't carry too much, I put one scoop of powder detergent each in several small ziplocks, then put several dryer sheets in another, then put all the small ones in a big ziplock just in case there is a leak. This way it's squishable and will fit into a corner of a suitcase easily.

OK - so, I HATE doing laundry. But, if you have to do laundry, WDW is the best place to do it. One of our trips we had to leave 1 day early - a big storm was coming our way and we wanted to beat it... and I hadn't done all the wash - so, I packed all the dirty clothes (I am the Queen of the Last Minute)!LOL! Got there, went down to the laundry and lounged around the pool doing laundry. Their facilities are always clean - at least the times I've gone -
I've bought the detergent there 'cause I didn't want to carry it, but those tablets sound good.

You guys are great. I pop in here for a little "browsing" and what do I find ... answers to questions I haven't even thought to ask. The suggestions about bringing clothes for 4 days and doing laundry sound like a great idea. I'm going for 10 days in December and was wondering how I was going to bring enough clothes with me to last without having to lug a hugh suitcase around. I think I'll follow your suggestions and pack for about 5 days and then do some laundry.

Couple of questions...are the laundry facilities and EVERY resort? I'll be staying at PO.

Those laundry detergent tabs ...any come in hypo-allergenic formulas? I'm VERY allergic to most of the perfume additives

I can answer one of your questions - PO does have laundry facility...Don't know about the hypo-allergenic tablets. We have similar prob, I still use Ivory for our youngest clothes, his skin is super sensitive.

At all the resorts where we have stayed, there is no closing time. The doors lock and you use your room key for access.
