I was wondering if there is anyone out there who is dieting (ie Weight Watchers) Any tips on where the healthy places are? Also, Can you ask the server to prepare your meal differently? For example, no oil. I know you can call ahead to where you plan to eat to ask for the Special Diet thing. I was under the impression that was for Dieabetics (sp?) and Vegatarians. Any thing would help.

There are plenty of ways to eat healthy in WDW. You can always find a fruit stand in the parks for a fresh snack. Also, some of the restaurants, I felt, had some very healthy options. I've always felt the fish at the Kona Cafe to be a delight. And the Garden Grille is another thought for fresh veggies and stuff. Obviously, I'd avoid the "heavier" restaurants (Alfredos, Le Cellier, Concourse Steakhouse).

I'm sure if you ask, you can get modified meals too. WDW is very flexible!

I also found the morrocan restaurant the best in the World for tasty, healthy food.

Try it- it's great and often overlooked!

As beth said- WDW is very accomodating and can handle most dietary requests.

I also find the buffets to be good choices for dieting. You can load up on fresh fruits and veggies- the salad bars are always excellent and abundant. And there are usually a couple of hot entrees that aren't diet-killers

Also remember the HUGE amount of walking you will be doing throughout your stay- you can get exercise "points" for that and use them at your meals

I have been to WDW twice while in the throws of the Weight Watchers program

I can honestly tell you it is not a problem....I never had to ask for anything special (besides having my dressing on the side)..There was always something on the menu that did not have a heavy sauce on it or high in calories, and could be easily incorporated into "points"...

The hardest thing I had was getting in my "milk" products..I'm not a milk drinker,so that was a challenge throughout the week...I did feel deprived while vacationing...I overlooked, yet longed at the desserts and luscious entrees the rest of my family enjoyed...

I was very successful...I did however have a gain on one of the trips of 2 pounds...I weighed in the day after my return..I attributed it to "sodium" as the very next week I was down those 2 pounds plus 3 more.....

This past trip in March, I was not on a regimented "program"...I ate whatever and where ever I wanted..I lost 4 pounds!! ...

I even had dessert on two occasions....I was so excited and never felt like I was missing out on vacation dining....

Don't worry about it..Make good conscious choices and it will not be a problem...My best advice is to promise yourself to go to your next meeting thereafter, regardless of how you felt you did....It's too easy to say "I'll skip a week"....and fall off completely..

I highly recommend the buffets..The fresh salads and fruit are wonderful in Florida too!!!......and Drink your water!!

Good Luck!!..Let us know how it goes

I will also be on the WW plan during my trip in Sept. I'm glad to hear fruit and veggies are plentiful at the buffets. I also plan on stocking my room with some low point items (fruit, cereal, pretzels) and taking small bags to the parks for when those snack attacks hit!
