    Can anyone explain to me what an "upsell" is at wdw? How much a discount can you get if you "upsell" your moderate reservation to a deluxe? Any generally, when do should you make the change? And what deluxe resorts are involved?

    A very good member of Intercot (Ahnalira) once wrote this:

    Ask outright if there are promotional specials at ANY of the hotels. If they say no, ask them to check with their supervisor for last minute specials or discounted rates on ANY type of accommodations ANYWHERE. If you're willing to spend a bit more for a superior resort experience, ask them if they have an "upsell offer" where you can move to a better resort at a substantial discount. Disney especially wants to fill its deluxe hotel rooms, because the nicer experience may influence a new "minimum standard" for future visits. The thinking is that visitors introduced to these better resorts will discover the intangible vacation value of a superior location, abundant dining options, and inclusive recreation and entertainment. This kind of subliminal and psychological marketing is also the Tao of Disney, and insures its continued existence. Therefore, make it work for you
