Has anyone been to the Kona Café at the Polynesian? Could you please give me a review of your experience?

I love pastries and espresso creations- Café Mocha is my favorite. I am considering it for breakfast before a MK day.

    Thanks,
    James

Quick! Before Carol and beth arrive...

I really enjoyed the Kona. It's a very nice (and quaint) restaurant that (from what I had) is really good - I would totally recommend it! And they have SO many types of coffee there!

Sorry, Wizzy, but I'm here now...

I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Kona and not been disappointed at any. I have some serious food restrictions, and the entire staff (up to the chef) has been very accomodating.

Breakfast was delicious. Excellent coffee. I hear wonderful things about Tonga Toast.

Lunch was also yummy. I had a "modified" beef teriyaki salad. Excellent.

Dinner is one of my favorites. Husband loves the beef teriyaki and I usually have the fish. Since a few modifications have to be made for me, although I've technically had the same meal for dinner every time we've been there, each time it has been slighly different (but always yummy).

Kona is the undiscovered dining gem of WDW!

I agree with beth! The Kona is one of the greatest unkown resturants in WDW. And the Beef teriyaki is fantastic.

I have only enjoyed breakfast at the Kona Cafe and absolutely loved it! I had the famous Tonga Toast and it was great! It was so flavorful and very filling. No need for lunch on that day.

    Cool

Okay, so beth beat me but, I got here before Jane!

The Polynesian resort is usually our home while vacationing at WDW..Like beth we have had all 3 meals and snacks at the Kona Cafe...We eat there, on average 5+ times throughout our stay...

I can not recommend it enough..I have never been disappointed or unsatisfied with the food, service or atmosphere....

I think over the years we've tried everything on the menu... ..My oldest son will make a meal out of the crab cakes alone ..I love their array of pancakes and the bacon is simply THE best...Of course my husband with O-D on Tonga Toast during our entire stay....

For dinner I like the mushroom ravioli.. ..As far as coffee goes they have many varieties available...I love their pressed pots!!

You can find out more in the way of meal times and prices in the Polynesian Info Section...

    Okay, I'll shut up now~

Another recommendation for the Kona Cafe. The food is fresh and creative - unfortunately were only able to make it for one meal (dinner) during our stay. The desserts are also excellent as is the coffee, of course! I also thought the prices were reasonable for what your were getting (not true for alot of WDW restaurants).

    Cool

Here is a vote for Tonga Toast as the absolute best food buy on WDW that you can get. Unbelievable, great, fantastic, the ultimate breakfast food, all describe the Tonga Toast. At breakfast, order the Tonga Toast. You will love it.

the service at this place is wonderful. I used to go there for breakfast every trip and get bacon for my cat. They got so they would see me coming and have the bacon ready before I even asked. Wonderful service - one of my favorite places to eat. So I need to make reservations this September. thanks for reminding me how wonderful this place is.

    Question

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely going to try the Kona Café.

I just have a final question:
For breakfast, will we need a reservation?

Thank-you again for all your replies to help with our trip this August.

I would make a PS, to be on the safe side..The Kona Cafe can be very busy early in the morning, (especially on the weekends), as it is on the monorail loop to MK and a very convenient spot for breakfast

I don't think you'll need to make them before arriving at WDW Simply call from your room the evening before, to ensure your desired time...

    Enjoy~

Yes! Make a PS when you have some time before your trip - when I just made them the other day there were only like 2 left for the morning. I had to get one for super super early. Oh well, I can wake up easily...
