    Default Food Quality

Just finished up a six day trip and have to ask. When did the quality of the food at Disneyworld drop off so significantly? I realize it is food for the masses but we did not have one good on property meal all week. Eggs over cooked, stale tasting coffee, cheap bacon for breakfast. Basically bread sandwiches for lunch. Dinners that tasted like microwave dishes. All of it horrible.

It was so bad that we made it a point to drive off property for dinners later in the week.

    So when did this happen?

Ican not speak to the quality of meals at Disney. But I can say that they are having a very hard time getting ingredients. They are having to use different brands in many things. I also know they are very short staffed with culinary. I am sorry your experience was subpar. Hopefully things will improve with time

We found the food at the resorts to be much better than the food in the parks.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I also found the the meals done by third party companies in Disney Springs were far better. The best meal we had in October was at Splitsville.

I just do not understand why they have allowed it to get so bad. I understand the need to feed a lot of people and choices will be made to do so using methods that allow for this but the quality of the ingredients seems to have really fallen off. Covid and its affects on supply lines may be affecting this but it would also be affecting off property Restaurants and we seen a much higher level of quality with off site restaurants then we did with on site restaurants. For lack of better words....the food was garbage in WDW

Face it, they just don't care.

Exactly. As long as people keep coming, they are going to cut costs and make everything they can cheaper while at the same time raising prices.

The Covid 19, supply chain issues and staffing excuses only go so far. It is pretty easy to distinguish between issues and cheapness and we have all been seeing a lot of cheapness at WDW the past few years. The food quality issues actually began several years ago when they stripped down the Table Service/ Dining plan restaurants and made the menus to maximize profits and make the food preparation more simple. I only had a couple of restaurants that was on my list to go to when I was there if I had time and they dropped what I liked so I don't really have any go to's on property anymore. We have been going offsite for our good meals for quite a while now.

The solution to all of this is we all need to just be strong and stop going for a couple of years and get their attention.

Its been getting worse for the better part of a decade. We used to view dining as an attraction all unto itself. Now, we dont look for the best meal, we just try to avoid the worst.

Every menu is basically the same. The only difference is "imagineered" names for the same entrees.

We're heading down in a few weeks. We were hoping the food quality improved since our last visit. Sounds like maybe not. Ah well. I guess everything has suffered during this "pandemic". I was also hoping that there would be a plethora of info here for our planning purposes. I'm sadly disappointed. No new news and info for us? Maybe not the right thread to be posting this, but I've always counted on this site. Again, hoping things will get back to "normal" in the future.
    Nice work, pal.
