Default Online check in and new magic bands?

HI all! 30 days out today! We have decided to try online check in for the first time-figuring it was something new and why not? Anyhow, I was filling on the form and it said if you decline new magic bands that are on their way that you could skip the front desk? So if we are getting new bands in the mail, we need to stop at the front desk to set up the pin code, correct? It says i have saved pin codes from a previous stay already (doesn't show what they are) DH is the only one getting a band bc i am using my Halloween party one i bought two years ago. Thanks for any help!

I've not set up a new pin code in several trips now. My old one always works. However, some guests are reporting that their dining plan doesn't work if they skip check-in, so it might be worth a quick stop just in case. I've never had a problem skipping the front desk when I've done online check-in, but we don't ever get the dining plan.

OK thanks for the info! We usually always check in at the desk, but arrive fairly early to out resort. Hoping by doing the online check in it would increase our chances of being able to check into our room. I know its not guranteed, but figured it wouldnt hurt to try

We just went in late June and used the Magic Bands that were sent to us for this reservation and used online check in. (This was our first Magic Band trip but we've used online check in before.) We landed in Orlando at 10:15 AM. I got a text while I was on the Magical Express bus that stated that my room was 1234. We never had to go to registration and our room was actually ready for us when we got to the resort. We dropped off our carry on luggage and headed straight to Epcot. No problems with our DDP.

Thank for the info! How did you set you PIN code? It didnt give me the option in online registration? Is just showed that it was locked. Will it automatically just use the one we had in previous stays as long as we havent changed it?

If you do not have a pin then you will need to go to the check in desk. Setting your pin would be like when you went to the bank and got a debit card.

Last Sept when we went to the online check in desk we never made it to the counter. A cast member approached us with a computer tablet and asked out names ect. then went behind the counter and brought all of our check in info to us and we were off.

Our room was ready before we got there because I received a text msg from Disney. I did not hear the phone when it came in because I am old and deaf...

Hope this helps... 5 days till Mickey and counting..

It does use your previous PIN. When you did/do online check-in and enter your payment type it will list all travelers and normally says next to each name "pin code set" if you've set it before.

If you need to reset or create a PIN go to MDE, my profile, payment & PIN and you can do it there.

You set the PIN in the MDE app, not at the time of on-line check-in. If you had set a PIN on a previous trip, that PIN is still the one in your account. You can change the PIN either at the front desk, or via MDE. To change it via the app, go to Profile/Magic Bands & Cards, just like you did to customize your bands. There will be a large button that says Reset PIN. If you haven't set up a PIN, that button will say Set PIN.

In either case, just follow the instructions.

If you have done on-line check in, have linked a credit card to your MDE account, set a PIN and told them to text you when your room is ready, you shouldn't need to go to the front desk. If, for some reason, they need you to do so, the text message you get about your room will tell you that. That had happened to us once. Their system was having problems (I know, how unusual) , and they needed to verify my credit card. Took all of 2 minutes.
