    Default Make A Choice...

So normally, at least in the past 6 years or so, we've called HOME - CBR. During a day trip visiting some of Disney's resorts while staying at POP a year or so before our first stay at CRB we visited the CBR property and said no way - way too big a place to navigate.

BUT the following year when we planned we got a great discount and thought why not try it. Since then we've never looked back. Love the place!!! Especially since I run each morning and the CBR grounds are perfect for running.

So up comes the planning for our 2016 vaca. Once we get off the Fantasy/DCL our plan is to go to CBR as we've done in the past.

UNLESS - we try a different mod resort. DW would like to try Port Orleans Riverside Resort. MAYBE...

Any input on this place? We didn't do Disney this year/2015 since we did our #alaskacruise so we may want to go with the sure thing...as we know CBR is great...least for us.

AND we know during our last visit in 2014 CBR was under referb so we feel is should be fresh.

When was the last time Riverside was refurb'd?

    ANY thoughts???

    THANKS!
    Best Regards,
    GMRO

We have stayed at all of the moderates, and CBR is my favorite! I love the beachy feel.

Just stayed at POR for the first time back in May and fell in love with it! Stayed in the Mansions and had easy access to the feature pool and lounge areas. I have stayed at CBR before and liked it, but think POR is even nicer. My "standard" resort is Pop, so I know that as well.

Since you are a runner, you may want to take a look at the resort map for POR / POFQ. You can actually run through both POR AND POFQ!! It is a beautiful resort / pair of resorts to walk/run through.

You can't go wrong with either resort. I love both POR and CBR.

POR's food court is very good, the grounds are beautiful and the theme is very relaxing. I'm not sure when the last time it was refurbished. My preference would be for a mansion room. The main pool is nice, but I prefer the CBR pool. One real plus to POR is the boat to DTD. It is quick and such a beautiful ride.

Well I do love both, CBR ranks above POR for me just because of the caribbean feel. I love the island/beachy feel to it.

Yea the CBR beach areas seem very private. And we do love relaxing in the evenings with a nice adult bottled beverage and cigar away from folks to not offend... it has been a great way to wind down after a day at the parks. The private pools are very nice too at CBR. For our pool days they fit the bill. Actually never been to the main pool. Just DW and I so our interests vary from larger family dynamics.

POR - the pics on the Disney site look very relaxing. And glad I can run thru the place in the am for my fix! Actually the food court at CBR...could be better. So if POR has a better court this could sway us to give this resort a try. Add the fact that we'll be closer to the new Disney Springs and this could sweeten the deal. We do shop a bit there...

    Decisions...decisions...

THANK YOU TO ALL for the great input! Helps a lot!
    Best Regards,

The only moderate at which I have stayed is POR. We are trying POFQ in November. While I *think* I'd like to try a different moderate, I cannot let go of the boat ride to Disney Springs. So very convenient, so lovely. Truly a HUGE perk of the Port Orleans resorts that you find at no other moderate.

ALSO - Yehaa Bob. A Disney Legend found only at POR.

I don't think you'd be disappointed. Alligator Bayou section for my family. Casual feel, very wooded grounds. Nice area for running, too.

    Good luck!

Can't go wrong with CBR or POR...both are great. However note that CBR is huge. Ask to be close to the Customs House. Good luck!

My opinion is biased because we stayed at POR our 1st family trip to WDW and soon after bought into DVC, but I didn't like POR, felt to much like a run of the mill standard hotel / motel you can find anywhere.

We have stayed in CBR twice and love it. We stayed there last Christmas in the new pirates room and they were beautiful. But I am like your wife and wanting to try something new, so this February we are staying in CS. We may regret it, but there is always next year. I really don't think that you can beat any resort in WDW, so I'm sure anywhere you stay you will love!

If you're a runner, then POR is a great choice. I love running from the FQ over to Riverside, around the river and back .... We do this "trail" several times to get 3/4 miles in a morning. The resort map is marked. I will say that my next favorite running is around from POP or the AoA around the hourglass lake. Otherwise Riverside is just a relaxing, quiet and all around moderate with a deluxe feel !!!

I have stayed at PO-R several times, always in the Alligator Bayou section. Last weekend was hy first time in the mansions. We stayed in a Royal Room and it was so cute. The walk to the main building to refill the mugs was not long and very pretty. Old Man island pool was not too long a walk either from our building. I love Riverside and you won't be disappointed.
