I was pulling for the Pats but as a long time HS football coach I was also yelling "just hand the ball off" after the pick that sealed the deal.
However, this morning on Sports Center they put up this stat:
For this season,
Lynch had 5 carries from the 1yd line.
He scored only once!

Helps me understand the call.

From what I remember, wasn't it on the first down that he did that? How about trying to run it in until you got to 3rd or 4th down. Then the option would be to pass. I was a little nervous that Brady was going to drop the ball and they were going to recover in the end zone, but the encroachment call sealed the deal.

I was listening to Boomer and Carton this morning, and they mentioned a great line from the papers..."The Butler did it!"

They should have ran. Lynch would have had 3 chances. It was 2nd down with 1 time out and :26 on the clock.

And I thought Seattle still had a chance after the pick. The offsides sealed the deal. Brady may have had to take a safety there, then Seattle would have had a couple plays to get into field goal range. Not probable, but possible.

Russel Wilson's pass was the 109th time a QB threw from the 1-yd line this season and it was the 1st time it resulted in an INT
