I love the Wilderness Lodge. It's my favorite because of the theming. As far as must do's, the only thing I can think of is the Whispering Canyon Café. It's a lot of fun.

My favorite resort and my DVC home

    • My favorite thing to do is grab my coffee and sneak out to the beach while everyone is still sleeping and watch the sunrise.
    • The marshmallow roast and movie on the beach are fun if your traveling with kids.
    • When you check-in you can ask if they have any openings for a flag family during your stay, you get to go to the roof and raise the flag in the morning. Take a walk to the villas and check out the decorations there, also off the lobby are two trains from Walt's backyard if anyone in your party is interested.
    • Be sure to take to the boat to MK at least once, if there is a long line when you're returning grab the bus back.
    • Watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach, normally about 920P

    Enjoy!

Pick up a Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunt sheet from the front desk. It's a nice way to explore the resort and have fun at the same time! Lots of hidden nooks and crannies with secluded fireplaces, artifact cases and great views.

Make sure you take time around the resort for photo ops. There are many of them!

I agree, even though your stay is short, inquire about being Flag Family for the day. It's a cherished memory for us.

We love hanging out on the balcony in the evening when we return to the room. So relaxing!

I miss Wilderness Lodge. Have a fantastic time!!!!!

Don't forget to head over to the Villas portion. One of Walt's personal railroad cars from his scaled replica is in the lobby of the villas! It is so awesome to see a part of Disney history like that!
It is my dream to one day pilot the monorails around the Seven Seas Lagoon....where's my star!!!

After a long day, we like to pick up a bottle of wine at the mercantile (they will cork it for you) and relax in the great room beneath the beautiful Christmas tree. It's a great experience, especially if there is some local entertainment (bell ringers or Christmas choir) scheduled for the evening. The past couple of years however, the east side of the Christmas tree has been commandeered by a photo op station with long lines of guests having a portrait taken. This really detracts from the overall ambiance of the Lodge and I wish they would do away with it.....you couldn't begin to get much of the tree in the photo in any event. Have a great time. Wish I was there this season!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I will tell you the best part of this stay was getting back at 2:00AM and NO ONE being around, not even the front desk CM. You could literally hear a pin drop lol. We got to really enjoy the atmosphere.. As it got later we just sat by the tree and took it all in. There was not a sole in sight. What a cool feeling.

This is where I've always wanted to stay too!

Someday .. but we love to visit.

One of our favourite things is enjoying the rocking chairs in the lobby, and then heading out to the beach for the Water Pageant.

Oh I love WL late at night. A few times when we stayed there we had rooms that opened up to the lobby. We had a set of rocking chairs overlooking the lobby right outside our door. My favorite thing to do on those trips was to sit in the rockers watching the lodge settle down for the night. So beautiful and peaceful!

You will LOVE it! My best friend surprised me with a stay in June!

What totally amazed me about the hotel is how close you are to MK, yet you feel like you're in your own little world.
